I made a new handguard for the Biden's Bane. It has 2 elements to prevent sag due to heat. It is bigger, so farther from the barrel and gas tube. More importantly though, it uses the same steel tubing the 37mm flare launchers that are floating around. The tubing goes inside the handguard and acts as a heat shield. To get maximum value, it is good to cut or grind out the openings in the printed elements in the steel tube. It uses lots of Mlok and some Pic rail that I haven't tried out before.
What I REALLY want to do is work on the Ark2.0, and I will when it drops or I get into the Alpha. I want to use steel collars in that build.
Definitely not a bastardized kitbash with a Hoffman Tactical...
My goal here is not to do an ARK in 5.56mm.
Not yet anyway.
I want to use the CMMG 5.7mm bolt and CMMG mags that fit in a standard AR magwell.
I also have to do an upper to match it, and I plan to do it with my aluminum tube liner.
I have not tested this yet, so I would like to set up some sort of beta for this thing.
I made a template to cut a piece of Aluminum tubing 1"ID and 1.25"OD into a sleeve for the ARK upper.
I have included the original ARK upper along with the one I modded to accept the sleeve.
I have not yet printed this nor have I cut the pipe, so revisions may come.
The upper only without barrel nut is 7in long, the barrel nut itself is 1in and the buffer tube is 6.88 in.
All in it is 15.3 in.
I am thinking a partial length buffer tube will give 12in with the tube extending from the barrel nut to halfway down the buffer tube.
As I said, very much a WIP.
I smushed a 30rd CZ Scorpion OEM style mag into a banana and played with it in Tinkercad until I had something almost good.
Just got some yellow filament, so I will print this baby out soon.
Oh and I included a cutout so the mag SHOULD be compatible with the EVO 3+ release.
If anyone tests it, plz lemme know.
