Today I test the Samson SACSMIC CS Mic, maybe the best budget XLR mic for live settings. It has a super cardioid polar pattern, and two microphone capsules for Vocals & Instruments.

Today I review the SMM-205, a super cheap budget microphone. This thing costs under $10 and can plug directly into your computers mic input, or a portable recorder, or an audio interface. But is this thing even worth the $8 that it costs? Can it be used for gaming, youtube, or interviews? I don't think so.

Today I review a new budget condenser mic from Presonus, the PX-1. This mic has a pretty robust low end, a neutral low end, and a nice boost to the top end, however it does start to sound slightly sizzly and artificial, but nothing terrible. The huge draw back here is the handling noise which is atrocious. I also found a really low sub 50hz noise. I also compare it to the Neewer NW700, Mackie EM-91C, Audio Technica AT2020, and Neat King Bee.

Today I review the AKG P220. This Is 1” condenser microphone that has a very flat mid section and a boosted high end. This leads the mic to sound a bit top heavy, brittle, sibilant, and breathy. The only application I really liked it for was on acoustic guitar because it adds a nice percussiveness to the tone.

I guess this will become an annual tradition, so in order to close out the year here's the box throw compilation for the last year. Although the year was another rough one for all of us, your support over the last 365 has made it easier and even enjoyable. Thank you for that. I hope you found some help, enjoyment, or escapism in the videos over the last year. Let's see what the next year brings, and remember that we'll get through that one too.

Today I review the brand new Rode PodMic, an entry level budget podcasting microphone. I also compare it to the Shure SM58, sE Electronics V7, and Sennheiser E835. This microphone seems to be tuned specifically for spoken word, and it does it’s job very well. At $100, Rode has made a very compelling option for entry level podcasters.
