2007 Toyota Porte
(Non Smoker Car)
JCI Good until August 2021
$3000 obo! Wont Last Long!!
This car has been amazing for us the last 2 years! We bought it at Payless and have had no issues whatsoever. It sleeps in a garage every night, and I change the oil every 5,000km. It is washed weekly, and has no rust or body damage. The paint is still glossy! There is a lot of room in this car, and it has a sliding passenger door, (see video link) which is a godsend if you have kids, and it's raining. The front passenger seat folds down flat, and has a cup holder and plastic tray, Hey, if it's just you alone its perfect for a Lawsons or family mart picnic.
You can fit up to 3 car seats in back if needed, and the rear seats fold flat for extra storage. There is a good sized trunk even with the seats up, and plenty of headroom and legroom in the back seats. I am 6'1 and I can stretch out in back, its a bit deceptive how much room you get in this car. It's way bigger inside than it looks.
The air conditioner blows cold, and it has an after market radio with usb connector. Takes about 20 bucks to fill the tank and it lasts a while. This is not a yellow plate, so the car has no trouble on the expressway or hills. It is nimble enough to navigate through tight streets, and able to park in almost every spot, here on island.
It has a Toyota Factory spoiler package, with black alloy wheels. It has an aggressive stance...or at least as aggressive as a Porte can be...lol!
It has 108,XXXkm on the odometer (about 63,00 miles), and I am still driving it daily. We are selling it because we bought a newer car for our expanding family (more paddle boards, a dog, etc).
This car will be available to take home next week, since we get our newer car this weekend. I will have it cleaned (although it doesn't need it) and will also change the oil for you. It's a wonderful car and we would keep it if we could. This car will more than last you a long time here on Okinawa! After next week, I'll try to put it on Kadena for those interested to see it. If you would like to see it this weekend let me know. I am certain at this price it won't last long. Make me an offer!

#Battleofokinawa
We found a bomb in #Okinawa! Yep and apparently its more common than you think. #WW2 the battle for this island was epic. More lives lost than in both atomic bomb attacks combined. As a result there are occasions when mainly construction crews find a bomb while clearing the land. Most times they rope off the area and come back to detonate it. That's what they plan to do with this one. But still never a dull moment in Okinawa!!
History lesson: #TheBattleofOkinawa (Japanese: 沖縄戦 Hepburn: Okinawa-sen) (Okinawan: 沖縄戦, translit. Uchinaa ikusa), codenamed Operation Iceberg,[18] was a major battle of the Pacific fought on the island of Okinawa by United States Marine and Army forces against the Imperial Japanese Army.[19] The initial invasion of Okinawa on April 1, 1945, was the largest amphibious assault in the Pacific Theater of WWII.[20][21] The 82-day battle lasted from April 1 until June 22, 1945. After a long campaign of island hopping, the Allies were planning to use Kadena Air Base on the large island of Okinawa as a base for Operation Downfall, the planned invasion of the Japanese home islands, 340 mi (550 km) away.
The United States created the Tenth Army, a cross-branch force consisting of the 7th, 27th, 77th, and 96th infantry divisions of the US Army with the 1st, 2nd, and 6th divisions of the Marine Corps, to fight on the island. The Tenth was unique in that it had its own tactical air force (joint Army-Marine command), and was also supported by combined naval and amphibious forces.
The battle has been referred to as the "typhoon of steel" in English, and tetsu no ame ("rain of steel") or tetsu no bōfū ("violent wind of steel") in Japanese.[22][23][24] The nicknames refer to the ferocity of the fighting, the intensity of Japanese kamikaze attacks, and the sheer numbers of Allied ships and armored vehicles that assaulted the island. The battle was one of the bloodiest in the Pacific, with approximately 160,000 casualties on both sides: at least 75,000 Allied and 84,166–117,000 Japanese,[25] including drafted Okinawans wearing Japanese uniforms.[15] 149,425 Okinawans were killed, committed suicide or went missing, a significant proportion of the estimated 300,000 local population.[25]
In the naval operations surrounding the battle, both sides lost considerable numbers of ships and aircraft, including the Japanese battleship Yamato. After the battle, Okinawa provided a fleet anchorage, troop staging areas, and airfields in proximity to Japan in preparation for the planned invasion.

I was invited (and I paid for it myself) to a snorkel trip on #MiyakoIsland in #Okinawa . We jumped at the chance, and while it was mainly cloudy most days I managed to get into the sun on our last day. I hope you enjoy this video.

Yomitan Okinawa gelato best on the island! We finally found it! Went to see cherry blossoms which didn't exactly work out. However we decided to find this Gelato place in Yomitan that's been bugging me for over 7 months because I could not find it. Finally though, with the help of my son we were able to not only find it, but enjoy some awesome locally made gelato in Yomitan Okinawa.

The latest as of this video:
A super typhoon has gotten the name 'Maria' in the western Pacific.
Storm names can be retired in one basin and not others.
The name 'Maria' was only retired in the Atlantic basin.
This version of Maria may pose a danger to Japan and China next week.
A super typhoon in the western Pacific Ocean northwest of Guam happens to have the name Maria, and may eventually pose a danger to parts of Japan and eastern China next week. Conditions are improving in Guam as Maria moves farther away.
Maria is now a Category 5 equivalent system, called a super typhoon locally, located 225 miles northwest of Guam, or more than 1,000 miles southeast of Okinawa, Japan
Current Storm Status
(The highest cloud tops, corresponding to the most vigorous convection, are shown in the brightest red and pink colors. Clustering, deep convection around the center is a sign of a healthy tropical cyclone.)
Last year, Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico, so you may wonder why you are seeing the name again. We'll answer that question after first laying out the forecast.
West Pacific Super Typhoon Maria's Forecast
Super Typhoon Maria is rapidly intensifying in an environment of very warm ocean water - 84 to 86-degree Fahrenheit sea-surface temperatures - low wind shear, and excellent outflowing winds aloft.
According to the U.S. Joint Typhoon Warning Center, Super Typhoon Maria is expected to remain a Category 5 equivalent hurricane through at least Friday if not into Saturday. The system should begin to weaken this weekend as conditions become less hospitable.
Typhoon Maria will be steered northwestward by a dome of high pressure aloft to its north, similar to the steering provided to Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes by the Bermuda high.
On this track, it could near Japan's Ryukyu Islands, including Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, early next week, as a somewhat weaker, but still strong typhoon.
The big question on track remains how far west this system can make it before curving northward.
This typhoon may be able to get close to eastern China, possibly including Shanghai, and then curl northeastward toward the Korean Peninsula. It could also say further east over the Yellow Sea and then go on to be near Korea late next week.
It's far too soon to determine the exact track and impacts of Typhoon Maria. Interests in Japan, China, the Korean Peninsula, and Taiwan should monitor closely the progress of Typhoon Maria.
