In this video I am preparing one of my favorite backpacking meals. This meal is light weight, inexpensive, and easy to prepare. This is a collaboration with Uptrail71, OutLan, Spiguyver Backpacking and Irish Zombie Nation. Be sure to check out their favorite backpacking meals and their channels too!

Just some clips taken on several of my hunts from this years (2015) deer season, up till now. Its been a good season so far and I have been seeing a few deer and a lot of turkey. My daughter also tagged along on one of my hunts for the first time in nearly 5 years. If you listen close to the last part of the video, you will here a doe blowing and stomping her feet trying to make me move, but they never truly figure out what i was and stuck around for an hour after sunset. Due to the fact that I could not take a doe during that part of the season I just had to wait them out for over an hour after sunset at which time I could finally climb down out of my tree without spooking them. Stay tuned for part 2!

Damascus is the home of the annual Trail Days festival, and is known as Trail Town USA due to the convergence of four scenic trails in the town, including the Appalachian Trail, U.S. Bicycle Route 76, The Iron Mountain Trail, and the Virginia Creeper Trail. Damascus also is on the route of the Daniel Boone Heritage Trail and the Crooked Road Music Heritage Trail. The Trail Days festival is held around the middle of May each year and draws in excess of 20,000 tourists, making it the largest single gathering of Appalachian Trail hikers anywhere

The German American Partnership Program (GAPP) supports school partnerships and exchanges between high schools in the U.S. and secondary schools in Germany.
GAPP allows groups of U.S. high school students and German secondary school students to visit a secondary school in the other country. The recommended group size is 10-20 students of approximately the same age. In Germany, as well as in the U.S., students live with their host family and participate in school activities.
This program affords the opportunity for students to experience an adventure of a lifetime! For some of these students it may be their only chance to visit another country and to see places they have only read about or seen on TV. The experience is quite rewarding for the host families as well! In a very short time you go from being perfect strangers to friends for life. Our family has hosted a total of six GAPP students over the span of four years and still keep in touch with them on a regular basis. This an awesome program and one I wish I had the opportunity to participate in when I was in high school!
In this video we follow along as the group first arrives, explores natural areas of our region, gets to experience life in the Appalachians of Southeastern Kentucky and find out why Kentucky is known as the horse capitol of the world! Thanks for watching!
