▶️ Crypto Investing Is As Risky As It Gets | EP#490
I’m down about $90K from all-time highs of Bitcoin and Ethereum. As such I think it’s an appropriate time to talk about the risks of investing in cryptocurrency, but also why I still think it’s worth it.
Cryptocurrency is easily the best way to grow your wealth quickly, but it also comes with a lot of risk and volatility. While my crypto portfolio is up hundreds if not thousands of percent, my stock portfolio is only about 13%. On top of that, my crypto is more liquid and can be spent, held in a decentralized, transferred instantly, and operational 24/7/7.
But because it’s a growing market and still in its infancy, the volatility can rock a lot of people right out of the market when they start seeing massive losses. I think it’s important to remember and recall previous bull runs like in 2017 when we saw at least 5 or 6 massive drops of about 30% or more in Bitcoin and subsequently Ethereum and the rest of the market. I still believe it’s a good sign that Bitcoin still leads the market and that it’s not really lost its dominance, but obviously losing massive amounts of unrealized gains is unfortunate.
I still have all the faith in the halving and how the stock to flow model outline where we are headed and even if we don’t see new all-time highs this year, I believe with the Ethereum 2.0 upgrade, the whole market will go up dramatically.
I just wanted this to serve as a warning that I never said this was low risk and we will see crazy volatility, but more importantly that beyond Bitcoin, Ethereum and handful of coins, you’re multiplying your risk so much more than is healthy for any investing portfolio. Minimizing risk should always be the goal when investing, not maximizing it. Invest, don’t speculate. Build wealth, don’t trade.

Hey everyone, today I’d like to go through the growth over the past year for both crypto-monetized and blockchain social platforms. Let’s compare them to get an overview of how they all performed and grew.
So, we are going to dive in briefly to each platform to take a look at their statistics/user growth charts and or any information I can query from their staff.
https://www.uptrennd.com/stats - By far the most impressive for a new platform. The last two months they saw more than 13,000 users joining and have gone from just over 8,000 users in August to hitting 50,000 this month.
https://batgrowth.com/ - By far the most adoption and growth overall (not a social platform necessarily, but relevant to this conversation). They have over 346,353 users. From October 28th to December 6th they gained over 20,000 YouTubers alone. Congratulations to Brave & BAT.
https://www.publish0x.com/stats - Treading along steadily growing averaging between 2,500 and 3,500 new users per month. I’m actually surprised it’s not more!
https://steemworld.org/ - According to Steemworld there are currently 1,345,487 accounts. https://steemit.com/steemit/@penguinpablo/daily-steem-stats-report-friday-december-6-2019 - This says they are getting about 300 new users a day on average and 9,000-10,000 a month

It took me three years to get monetized on YouTube and earn $13.87 during my first month in October. While this is a great start, it’s very little compared to many crypto social platforms alternatives that let you start earning from day one.
While I have a small YouTube audience, across all of the platforms I use, I have just under 100k followers. The many platforms I use earn me anywhere from $500-1800 a month depending on how often I am posting. This is a nearly livable wage for many people and could make a huge difference. Again, you also don’t have to go through years of making nothing to get there. I can say first hand, that it is fairly discouraging, but I do this because I enjoy which has to always come first.
The point here is that you don’t have to be a popular YouTuber to make money and even if you are a popular YouTuber or content creator, you may be denying yourself free cryptocurrency earnings that you could easily take advantage of. On top of that, by utilizing blockchain platforms that are censorship resistant, you can ensure you have backup channels for your content in case something were to ever happen to your YouTube channel.
Some great examples of platforms to use instead of YouTube that also earn you cryptocurrency are ThreeSpeak on Hive and LBRY. I also encourage you to check out Publish0x, and Read.Cash for earning crypto by blogging. I also embed my LBRY videos on these platforms.
I compare my YouTube earnings to my September earnings in this video. In September I made $482.17 CAD worth of cryptocurrency from 8 platforms I used. I will be sharing my October update soon.

When you make hundreds of videos and YouTube won’t let you monetize, they are telling you that you are not providing value and thus not receiving any so people get discouraged. I recently had the chance to discuss Presearch with Colin Pape who is the CEO and founder there. We discussed how and why Presearch was created as well as how it works. It’s the first project of its kind that allows you to earn cryptocurrency just by searching the web.

Sharing-My-New-Years-Resolutions
Now while I believe that if you want to make a change in your life, you should simply start today and never stop, but I wanted to do something different this year with my resolutions and try monthly challenges. With that, here are my New Year’s resolutions!
I was inspired after watching Matt D’Avella’s video on the 12 habits that changed his life in 2019 where he did one new habit for 30 days each month of the year. I wanted to set some strict new habits for this year as well as try new ones each month of the year and then try to incorporate those into my daily life if I felt it worked for me.
My big and most important goal for this year is to hit 500 videos. This will be challenging because right now I’m at 224 now meaning that I have to make 276 videos this year which is possible but it won’t be easy given the amount of work I put into my videos and the additional notes and writing I include.
For the year moving forward, the habits I’ve set up or set to cut out are:
- Not Ubering anywhere within 30 minutes walking distance unless it’s rainy or below -10 celsius
- No more caffeine at all. Switching from coffee to herbal green tea
- Quit biting my nails
- Only drinking on the weekends
- Drinking more water
- Flossing more
- Watching Netflix less
- Goals, values, and positive affirmations
Outside of those above, I’ve also laid out challenges for the whole year month by month as listed:
- January – Taking cold showers
- February – Read 30 minutes a day
- March – No Alcohol
- April - Wake up at the same time every day
- May - No gaming
- June – Do yoga every day and decrease time sitting
- July - Jog every day
- August - Meditate 30 minutes a day
- September - Write for 30 minutes every day
- October - No sugar and no eating out
- November - Schedule every minute
- December - Intermittent fasting

When YouTube is demonetizing their top-performing content creators like Joe Rogan, it should be unsurprising that they leave for better alternatives. The question I want to tackle is why YouTube has been allowing less and less content to exist on their platform.
I theorize that it partly has to do with storage space costs and partly to do with them wanting to shift their business model to be in line as a competitor with major streaming services like Netflix or Amazon Prime. Regardless of the reason, this has been a complete flop.
YouTube marketed itself, advertised itself, and built itself up off the backs of creators and being supportive of creators. If there were space issues, they could have limited uploads for channels with fewer followers or something and for the streaming service take, I think they would have pissed off way fewer people and made a ton of money if they just made a separate platform or product that you could still access with your YouTube/Gmail login.
Either way, YouTube is losing creators and support left and right and they seemed doomed to fail at maintaining their status as the creator haven it once was. With so many innovative and successful alternatives, there’s no reason why anyone should stay.
Check out the likes of LBRY, DTube, BitChute, 3Speak, Vibravid, Minds, BitTube, TokenTuber, and Cos.TV. There are many alternatives for people to take advantage of and I recommend diversifying as best as you can. I sure have.

To briefly go over my social media results for October, I received around 6,200 engagements, 18,700 video views, 1,100 comments, 1,400 followers, and 162,600 impressions.

**October Insights:**
My earnings have begun to sharply increase again with prices rising, hype, and me posting more. This is my 23rd report and the more data I acquire, the better the results become. My top consistent earners are still Read.Cash, Hive, & LBRY/Odysee. DTube has started to become a fairly consistent top earner as well though it’s harder to recommend due to some issues I have with posting etc. It’s still an amazing platform and is very decentralized, so it’s worth that trade, especially since withdrawals through Ionomy cost next to nothing.
Blurt is really on the come up for me for both earning rewards and building passive income. The Blurt token price has also skyrocketed and is definitely worth looking into if you’re familiar already with Hive.
SoMee finally did their airdrop and my tokens that before being frozen were easily worth over $2,000 as of writing this are now worth $113. When the token launched the value plummeted and I don’t believe it will ever return now that it has gone from being its own platform to just another generic Hive community. I’ve exited all positions with SoMee and may still patronize the website from time to time. I do not recommend wasting your time with it though as you could probably earn more on other communities on Hive.
Torum has finally launched XTM fully and enabled withdrawals. I personally tested it and now that you can withdraw, I will be recording this and tracking my earnings. Do keep in mind that you just earn from engaging and doing daily activities though, not from creating or curating. Now that I’m also back on BitTube, I will be tracking my airtime earnings of TUBE token as well.
I will continue to share these reports every month to give you a breakdown of what my earnings are to be completely transparent and give you an idea of what you could do if you shared on all of these social platforms too.
