A witch curses a newborn princess to die on her 16th birthday. However, a fairy alters the curse, allowing the princess to survive by going into a deep sleep that can be broken by true love's kiss.

In 1866, Professor Pierre M. Aronnax (Paul Lukas) and his assistant Conseil (Peter Lorre), stranded in San Francisco by reports of a giant sea monster attacking ships in the Pacific Ocean, are invited to join an expedition to search for the creature. During the search, they and harpooner Ned Land (Kirk Douglas) are thrown overboard during an attack, eventually discovering that the supposed monster is actually a submarine piloted by the brilliant but haunted Captain Nemo (James Mason).
Albert Dooley (Dean Jones), a financially strapped scientist, and his wife, Katie (Sandy Duncan), think their money problems have been solved when the duck Albert has been experimenting on starts laying eggs with golden yolks. However, Albert's ambitions are sidetracked when his meddling neighbor Mr. Hooper (Joe Flynn) begins spying on his family and discovers the duck's amazing ability. After word spreads about the duck, Albert and his family soon find themselves pursued by greedy FBI agents.
