GENUINE OVERCOMERS--LIVING LIFE AS GOD INTENDED IT TO BE!
All Christians and every true believer is an overcomer.
In Christ, by God’s grace and power, we all have overcome the destroying, enslaving power of the world’s evil system. Paul explained overcomers in Romans 12 as those who resist the world.
Romans 12:21 (NKJV) Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Truly regenerated overcomers are given seven precious promises: the privilege of eating from the tree of life (2:7), the crown of life (2:10), protection from the second death (2:11), the hidden manna (2:17), a white stone with a new name written on it (2:17), the authority to rule the nations (2:26–27), the morning star (2:28), white garments, symbolizing purity and holiness (3:5), the honor of having Christ confess their names before God the Father and the holy angels in heaven (3:5), to be made a pillar in God’s temple (3:12), and to have written on them the name of God, of the new Jerusalem, and of Christ (3:12).
Jesus summarizes what He had already promised us, which is captured in His words written down in the Gospel by John. Do you remember how often Jesus talked about “Life the Way God Designed it to Be”?
Overcomers Possess Life in the
Way God Designed It to Be
For a moment go back with me and listen to Jesus as He spoke in the Gospel by John about real life. The lost who heard Him and did not receive Him, never understood, or experienced life as Jesus described it, and God designed it.
Here is what eternal, endless, abundant life from above looks like in Christ's words:
John 1:43: A Life of Following Christ
John 3:36: A Life of Presently Possessing Eternal Life
John 4:13-14: A Life that Never runs dry or Goes empty
John 5:24: A Life that Never Has to Fear a Bad Ending
John 6:57: A Life that Feeds on Christ
John 7:38: A Life that Becomes a Mighty Fountain of Endless Life
John 8:12, 36: A Life Never Trapped in Darkness, but Freed
John 10:10, 28: A Life Abundant & Secure
So Jesus clearly states that He has come to give the life that God designed for us, that we turned from in Adam, and that He would purchase for us on the Cross. That endless, abundant life is what all who come simply by faith can have endlessly at this moment.

Peter, nearing the end of his earthly life writes down for us in God's Word this inspired snapshot of what a gorgeous woman in God's sight looks like. It’s a timeless, never-out-of-style, supra-cultural absolute. This is what a woman of God has always looked like. But watch out it is very different from the woman of the day, the woman of contemporary fashion, the woman who displays her body to catch the stares of others.
God’s desires for godly women and their beauty, goes against the grain of culture and society. What does God say a woman of godly virtue is to be? He gives a four-part portrait:
1. V. 1-2 in her actions she lines up with God's plan for the church and the home. Thus, she is submissive.
2. V. 3 in her adornment she looks like a woman in whom the Holy Spirit dwells, thus she is modest.
3. V.4 in her attitude she longs to offer God what he is looking for. Thus, she is gentle and quiet.
4. V.5-6 in her attention she is focused on the home. Thus, she is feminine.
What are God’s Desires for 21st Century Women?
I Peter 3:1-6
God has clearly expressed His desires for the woman of grace, seeking to please Him in the 21st Century. His desires are supra-cultural, they transcend all cultural settings. His desires are also timeless; and they translate well into the First Century, the 19th century, and right to us today.
Peter captures God’s changeless desires for us, in God’s perfect Word. As Peter wrote to the most cosmopolitan Roman province, the most educated and civilized cities of the Empire he frames four life priorities that signal a woman in step with God, His plan, His Word, and His desires for her life.

Deception, Deceivers, Satan & the Rebels (Revelation 6:2).
As we open to Revelation 1:3 this morning, we enter the only book of the Bible that has attached to it a promised blessing from God, for any believer who reads and responds to these words from God.
God Wants to Bless each of His servants this morning
So just opening and following along today with an open and surrendered heart means we each get to experience today the blessings of God. Listen to His promise:
Rev. 1:3 (NKJV) Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.
So lesson one today is:
Reads + Hears + Keeps = Blessed by God
Revelation is the key book to understand God, His Plan, and His Word. That is why this book seals up and completes the truth God has sent to us a His creations.
This morning, as we continue our journey through this deep and transformational book, let me again review where we are, where we’ve been, and where we are going.
I received two emails while I was away last week, asking for a thumbnail of our journey in Revelation. When we started on Revelation over two years ago, we saw that this book was about:
Pleasing God as We Head To the End of Days
This final book of the Bible was sent to us by God the Father, through His Son the Lord Jesus Christ as the final explanation on how to please God, to our last days.
The flow of Revelation is simple to see if you note the introduction God gave. He said that this book was divided into three parts. The outline is given in Rev. 1:19.
First, God told John to send to us the: “things you have seen”.
That is the message of Chapter 1 where Jesus Christ is showing Himself in all His glory, as Almighty God the Son.
Jesus is right now on the ground, walking through life with us as His Church, seeking to see us accomplish His will and plan each day. He is watching our every move with His eyes that see everything. He never leaves our side, and is always available to each of us at any moment.
Lesson: The only hope of surviving the end of days is walking with Christ.

Under our feet tonight lays the result of Noah's Flood. Sometimes more than a mile deep is a sedimentary layer cake that shows the global extent of the destruction of the Lost World by the Flood.
All that remains of the World that Perished in the Genesis Flood is underneath upwards of a mile of rock layers under our feet. No city, no walls, no towers, no villages remain from the Lost World, they all perished when God destroyed mankind. All remains of humanity from the World that Perished in the Genesis Flood have been buried a mile deep.
So that means the Brave New World was the world that Noah stepped into when he exited the Ark.
The Brave New World of Noah and His sons was a fresh start for man. Every Stone Age tool, every caveman artifact, and every archaeological ruin on the surface (less than a feet deep) of the earth, all are from the Brave New World of Noah and his sons. Nothing on earth survived the Flood in the World that Perished in the Genesis Flood.
This evening we are going to survey what is probably the most intriguing, fascinating, and informative part of the Bible.
Genesis 8-11 lays the foundation for every person on this planet. Every nation, every culture, every legend and myth all come to us from the Brave New World of Noah and His sons. Lets trace the chapters and what we will study in the next few weeks.

AN OVERVIEW OF THE END OF DAYS IN REVELATION
Chapter 6 starts the judgments, and from that moment to the climactic return of the King in Revelation 19, the river of God’s wrath just keeps flooding the earth. Note the rapid devastation.
We begin in chapter 6 with the Lord beginning to unroll the seven seals, as each one breaks open it reveals another event that's going to happen on the earth. By the sixth seal in Rev. 6:12-17, we have an earthquake.
When God makes the earth shake, it is a big one. The sun becomes as black as a sackcloth of hair and the moon becomes like blood. The stars of heaven fell to the earth. Imagine a day when the sun goes black, the moon goes blood-red, and the stars all fall out of heaven, as the sky departs like a scroll. As those scenes flash by above, below, every mountain and every island get shaken out of their places. This is like a:
GLOBAL HORROR MOVIE
Can you imagine that? These will be scary times in verses 15 to 17. The shaken inhabitants of Earth scream for the rocks and the mountains to fall, to hide them from the face of him that sits on the throne; and from the wrath of the Lamb. For the great day of His wrath has come and who shall be able to stand?
That was only the first of the 14 chapters of tribulation horrors. Next, jump to the last seal in Revelation 8:1. This seal unleashes the seven trumpet judgments, another way to signify terrifying, wide-spread judgment.
Rev. 8:7 gives us just a little taste of what is going on as the judgments roll across the land, seas, and skies: “The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up”.
Like in one of the countless computer-generated science–fiction movies: a huge, huge ball of fire fall from the sky and hit the seas, destroying a third of the oceans.
Only it wasn’t a computer-generated theater disaster, it actually happens. Most people will probably just stand there in unbelief. They had seen New York and LA destroyed so many times on screen, but never heard the ear-shattering concussive blast of impact, or felt the skin-searing heat of the devastation.
Soon a tsunaminous-tidal wave that would be absolutely beyond imagination, follows the flaming ball of fire that plunged into the sea, joining the other fires that come down to the earth that burn up a third of everything on the globe. But we know that:
REVELATION 6-8 IS ONLY THE MOVIE TRAILER
Each of these disasters is only a preview, we understand, of the devastating fire of God, when He will consume everything left at the end of the thousand years before He sets up the new heaven and the new earth.

On the first Easter morning, Mary was looking at the empty tomb and met Jesus.
She had come in sorrow and confusion. All the memories of Him flooded her mind. Jesus had loved her, forgiven her, and made her so many promises. But now Jesus seemed to be so far away, all of those things seemed distant to Mary.
Mary needed to see Jesus. That is why she was last at the Cross, and first at the Tomb. Mary came needing Him and now would be first to see the Risen Christ. Only He could strengthen her faith and comfort her heart and that is what He did.
But that was 2,000 years ago—and it seems so long ago and so far away.
We live so distant at times from the quietness of the garden on Resurrection morning.
We live so removed from the gracious assurances that Jesus offered to Mary.
But that is only our fault because the truth of the resurrection is that Jesus is alive. And since He is alive He is doing the same things He did then.
Did you catch that?
Jesus wants us to know that He is still doing just what He did that morning, and in the days that followed. So much of His ministry was assuring the disciples of what they already knew, and encouraging them to do what He left them here to do.
This morning, will you meet again the Risen Christ?
And as you meet Him, will you see what He is doing today? That is what He wants for us--to see Him, and even, more believe Him. And then respond to His work in us through His Word.

ZECHARIAH “OUR JEALOUS GOD”
The second of the final three prophets of the Old Testament is Zechariah. His name means “God remembers”. Because each word of God's Word is inspired, this presents the theme of the book. Unlike the thunder of Haggai his contemporary, Zechariah gives comforting messages of encouragement! Born as the son of a priest during the Babylonian exile, he seems to have been an orphan. He was called the son of Iddo who was his grandfather.
Returning with the faithful remnant numbering 42,360 individuals under Zerubbabel, he joined those who came to restore the Temple worship of the Lord. His ministry dates to the second year of the King of Persia names Darius Hystapses (521-520 BC). This dates his ministry to 2 months after Haggai stood at the ruins of the Temple and preached his first prophetic sermon. Just as Haggai, God burdened Zechariah for the neglected repair of the Temple. However, God extends his prophetic view far beyond the Jews of his day. God sends him on a prophetic voyage that travels to the very end of redemptive history. He is given such detailed insights surrounding the events of the coming Messiah, the Tribulation, the Golden Millennial Age of Israel and the Reign of Christ that bible teachers of the magnitude of Martin Luther would not even write on some parts of this book. They just couldn’t figure it out. Of course they believed God was through with the Jews and all of this had to be describing the church . . .
I. PRACTICAL TRUTHS TO CONSIDER: To maximize our learning, we may begin by gleaning four broad applications from this great Old Testament prophet:
A. SIN WILL BRING GOD'S JUDGMENT. Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. (NKJV)
B. GOD'S PAST DEALINGS WITH SIN SHOULD CAUSE US TO TURN FROM SIN. Matthew 12:41 "The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah [is] here. (NKJV)
C. TURNING FROM SIN BRINGS BLESSING. Look at Zechariah 1:3 "Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Return to Me," says the LORD of hosts, "and I will return to you," says the LORD of hosts. (NKJV). Even the most wicked (Ahab) found mercy in turning. Even the wicked Manasseh was forgiven (II Chr. 33:9-13).
D. GOD LIKE HIS WORD CAN NEVER BE EVADED FOR LONG! See what God said in Zechariah 1:6 Yet surely My words and My statutes, Which I commanded My servants the prophets, Did they not overtake your fathers? "So they returned and said: 'Just as the LORD of hosts determined to do to us, According to our ways and according to our deeds, So He has dealt with us.' " ' " (NKJV)

This passage we just read was Christ's reply to His disciples’ questions about the future.
This chapter is also called “The Olivet Discourse,” the greatest prophetic sermon Jesus ever preached.
Since Luke wrote with the Gentile reader in mind, he didn’t record some of the strong Jewish parts of the sermon.
What he records are the essential truths that we must consider and apply.
Remember that Israel and the Church are two separate and distinct parts of God’s plan—don’t confuse them.
Remember Luke 21 was written to explain to the Jews and the Nation of Israel what God has planned for them.
Notice as I read that the message is to people living in Jerusalem, Judea, and about Israel. Jesus is not talking about the future of His Church but the destiny of His chosen people of Promise.
Jesus wouldn’t be giving signs for His Coming for His Bride, for that can occur at any time and no signs need precede it (Jewish Wedding customs in Matthew 25, as well as 1 Corinthians 15:51–58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18). Remember that God's Word says, “For the Jews require a sign” (1 Corinthians 1:22), but we Christ's Church have been instructed that we are not to look for any signs but for our Savior (Phil. 3:20–21).
Luke 21 is an inside look at a stage of God’s program called “the Tribulation”. This period is when God pours out His wrath on the nations of the world. Most prophetic scholars believe that the Tribulation begins after Christ comes in the air and takes His church to heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:13–5:11). The Tribulation ends at Christ's Return in glory to the Earth when He crushes His foes and establishes His kingdom (Rev. 19:1–20:6).
