Class01 - Lecture 03 Beginners Maya -- Character Windows Below your tools are a list of images, the top of which is a box that looks like a thumbnail version of your scene. Clicking on it will lead you to the perspective camera. The second thumbnail with 4 tiny squares will lead you to a 4 screen layout with perspective, top, front, and side views. The third view is a split screen between perspective view and a list of the objects in your scene called an outliner. To move quickly between the windows, put your mouse over the window you want and press the space bar. Layout basic primitives for each body part separately. Use the different camera angles to align your body parts. To move things around you can utilize groups and parents to move and scale things together. Parent-Select an object that you want to follow another object, select the other object. The "P" button will have the first object follow the second. Select the child and "Shift+P" will un-parent them. Group- Select a couple of objects in any order and press "CNTRL+G". This will group them under a new invisible object called a group. You can select this group by selecting one of the objects and pressing up or through the list of items in your scene Outliner. Clicking the plus symbol next to your group will show the items in your group.(Try this method to group your right arm and leg together and duplicate it, scaling to a -1 X on the right hand side; Do not forget to unparent.)
