Celebrating a cheerful year, this is a compilation of the best events I have done and accomplished in 2018. From the center of London to Camp Winnebagoe, and from the MOC House to Whistler, some of the most colourful scenes of videos and stills are highlighted.
Featuring: Lise de la Salle (00:09) London (00:14) Crossrail Class 345 (01:16) Airbus A350-1000 (01:41) The Phoenix Leadership Conference (01:52) McGill Outdoors Club (02:22) Vancouver & Whistler (02:30)
Here is (license plate) A 80032, a brand new Motor Coach Industries J4500, manufactured in Feb. 2016. As this coach was only recently acquired by the company, it had no fleet number at the time. Préférence is ordering eight of these new MCI J4500s. The first one in this order (A 80033) was numbered 6801 (which I took on a subsequent trip), and this coach is expected to follow the 68xx number sequence when the time comes for this bus to be assigned a number.
Préférence is a coach charter company based in Terrebonne, Quebec, just outside of Montreal, and in this video it is chartered on a trip for the McGill SSMU Ski & Snowboard Club, SSMUSki. On this trip we went skiing in Jay Peak, Vermont and in the clip shows the drive between Jay Peak Resort and the North Troy border station. For security reasons, the border station was not filmed. The second part at 19:24 shows the drive onto the freeway, Autoroute 10 (Autoroute des Cantons-de-l'Est) and Highway 245 near Eastman, QC to give a look of how the bus performs on the highway.
McGill's SSMU Ski & Snowboard Club is one of McGill University's largest and most popular clubs. It offers a ski trip weekly on Saturdays to resorts like Mont-Tremblant, Bromont, Orford, Mont-Ste-Anne, Jay Peak, Stowe, etc. as well as an overnight trip to Jay Peak. Because of this SSMUSki has become my absolute favorite thing at McGill.

Here is King County Metro 4330, a 2016 New Flyer XT40 on route 4 E Queen Anne. This was taken from my visit to Seattle back in May 2016 before I started my YouTube channel, so what I compiled here I had no intention to put it on YouTube at the time, so apologies for the somewhat poor quality video. Also this visit was primarily to focus on photographing Boeing aircraft at Paine Field as well as Boeing Field and the full set of pictures are on the links below.

Welcome to my latest video! Here's the inaugural landing of Qatar Airways' Airbus A350-900 in Montreal! Qatar has been the launch customer for the A350 when it entered service back in 2015, and as such, features the latest cabin products, including QSuite, and an entirely new economy class. Despite being the launch customer, we've been waiting for over 5 years for Qatar's A350 to come to Montreal; the airline previously used the much disliked Boeing 777-300ER on this route which unfortunately features outdated business class, and 10 abreast economy class with ultra-narrow seats. Last year, Lufthansa was the first airline to send the A350 to Montreal from Munich which I have also filmed, but that route has been cancelled in light of the current situation.
With the travel bans in place because of COVID-19 including the ban on foreign citizens for many countries including Canada and Qatar, while not mentioned publicly, this is likely to be a repatriation flight as well, sending Canadian citizens back home on this flight, and sending Qatari citizens back home on the outbound flight, which departs at 9 pm tonight, which I will not film.

Here is WEGO Niagara Falls Visitor Transportation 5209, a 2012 Nova Bus LFX Artic. on the Blue Line from Clifton Hill until the Ramada Hotel. This one is operated by Niagara Falls Transit and differs from the Niagara Parks-operated 9001-9011 units by having different seats, transmission, wide middle door, stop request cord, and white (instead of black) frame between the windows on the inside. WEGO is the most practical way to get around Niagara Falls for those without a car.

It's been 7 months since my first sighting of a TTC Nova Bus LFS HEV (3411) in October at the Nova Bus factory, and here's my first ride on this series of hybrid buses. These buses are the start of a new era at the Toronto Transit Commission and is the first step into reducing fuel use and emissions for the next decade, eventually reaching the goal of zero emissions later in the 2030's.
Getting a ride on these buses was a hit and miss. Though I first sighted it in October 2018, unveiled publicly in November, and finally entered service in February 2019, these series were however grounded shortly after due to a defect in the steering system which was fixed later in March, and returned to full service afterwards. I spent the reading break in Toronto in early March which was when the buses were grounded.
A total of 255 buses are on order for 2018-19 (3400-3654) and most will be delivered to Malvern Division to replace the Orion VII hybrids, which were rather troublesome and did not deliver fuel savings that were initially promised, which led to the TTC not buying hybrid buses for a decade. However, these Nova hybrids are a completely new breed. It delivers up to 30% fuel savings and 50% less noise, and overall runs far more efficiently than the previous generation.
These buses are overall very comfortable, and runs very smoothly. It has a few features new to the TTC, including the VISION displays and announcements, as well as USB ports for charging mobile devices.
Please note that the audio has been muted from 20:41 to 22:10 due to a phone conversation.

My first time on an Airbus A380, this is SQ863 from Hong Kong to Singapore Changi. This was booked as part of a multi-city itinerary with this as the first leg, then Singapore to Auckland on June 19 codeshared on Air New Zealand, and back to Hong Kong on June 30. This is the most quiet takeoff I had ever experienced as we were on the upper deck economy and far from the engines. This was also one of the most comfortable as the upper deck economy window seats had a storage locker by the windows as the fuselage curvature allows it, and probably the biggest surprises were the hot towels handed out after boarding, and the use of metal utensils with the meals much like those in a high-end restaurant.
Update on the upcoming videos of Air New Zealand's 787: unfortunately I seem to have accidentally deleted some of the footage that I filmed on NZ281. For this reason I will be combining both NZ281 and NZ282 into one video; what I have left of NZ281 was too short to make one video and since Air New Zealand's 787 was so excellent and is one of the best planes ever, I will definitely repeat this flight again maybe in a few years time and make a full review video of it.

Here is Jetstar Airways JQ295 operating from Auckland to Queenstown, New Zealand. This shows mostly the descent and landing into Queenstown, one of the most beautiful and scenic airports in the world. This is the start of my adventure of a lifetime where I would do ziplining, bungy jumping, skydiving, skiing, and a tour to Milford Sound, things that I have been dreaming for years.

Welcome to my first ride on the British Rail Class 345 on the future Crossrail / Elizabeth Line, currently branded as TfL Rail. As I had to meet up a friend later in the day at Ebbsfleet, I did not have much time to film, so we'll be doing a short trip from Liverpool Street to Stratford.
Initially 7 cars long, these will be expanded to 9 cars when the central tunnel opens in December 2018 while also dependent on the platform extensions in the existing stations. Liverpool Street and Paddington will also be moved into the new tunnel, and to differentiate this, the current platforms are referred to as "main line stations". TfL Rail in its current form is basically a rebranded Overground service, and there are still quite a few class 315s that are in the Overground livery. In the beginning of the video a Class 315 in the TfL Rail livery is also seen departing Liverpool Street, and these trains will be removed from this service as more Class 345s phase in.
These trains are built by Bombardier at Derby, England, and are branded as Aventra. Similar trains are also built for other services and classed as 710 for the London Overground (2 doors per side), 720 for Greater Anglia, 701 for South Western Railway, TBD for West Midlands Trains, and 711 for c2c. For the Elizabeth Line, there are some cars with only bench seating, and other cars have transverse seating as well.
