On May 25th 2020 George Floyd was arrested in Minneapolis, Minnesota on suspicion of passing a counterfeit $20 bill. While three other police officers assisted, Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin pinned Floyd to the ground with his knee on his neck. During this time period Floyd can be seen on camera pleading for his life, repeatedly stating that he could not breath until he became unresponsive. Chauvin refused to remove his knee from Floyd's neck for a total of 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Approximately an hour later George Floyd was pronounced dead. What started out as peaceful protests due to outrage over the gruesome killing of George Floyd and many other African Americans quickly turned into something else. People all over the United States took to the streets to riot, loot and destroy their cities.
