In today's video I head out on the Chesapeake Bay and try my luck for some pre spawn largemouth bass. The weather hasn't been able to cooperate lately and we have a late spring. Warmer Temps are just around the corner though and now is a great time to catch some big fat bass!
The water temps are in the high 40's and the fish are actively feeding but the water is a bit dirty and there is a lot of current from the gates being opened at the dam. This just makes it a bit more challenging to find some active bass but they are there somewhere!

Loving the new St Croix Victory Rod. This rod is amazing for throwing Spybaits. I used it all summer so far and it is my only rod I will use for spybaiting. The distance it cast is incredible and once those big smallmouth are hooked up it handles them great. If you want to be a better angler good equipment is extremely important. Having the right set up helps you have more confidence and helps you catch more fish!

Wow did this week fly by or what! It was a killer for me. These bass living in the Potomac are not playing nice. This week has been a true grind. Very few fish caught and some challenging conditions made this week a true test. A test on your equipment, a test on your body and your mind! With temperatures in the 90's making it extremely uncomfortable to fish it took a lot out of me!
I finally connect with a few good size fish on the last day of practice! Will this place hold up for me! I sure hope so. I am so glad I found these fish if I hadn't run into these fish today I have no idea where I was planning on starting for the last FLW Costa Series of the year for the Northeast Division.

In this video Epic Eric and I head out to the Chesapeake Bay to do some Bass Fishing. Why not it's Christmas Eve and we got nothing better to do! The winter bite is starting to set up and the fish can be caught at times. Today we had a very low tide and the water never really came back in all day. This made the fishing pretty tough for us. The Chesapeake Bay normally can be fished year round and on the right type of day you can have a solid bag of Largemouth Bass this time of the year!

In this video Eric and I head up a creek that is loaded with Largemouth Bass. We decided to bust out the Keitech Model 1 Finesse Jig and targeted isolated cover such as wood along the bank and submerged. We used a variety of trailers and break down the features of this unique jig. Keitech makes some great products and this Keitech Jig gets our fish catching approval. I encourage you to give these jigs a try on your next fishing adventure. They come in a wide range of fish catching colors and sizes.

Well I had grand plans on making a kick ass Christmas Video for everyone but I had to go solo and from the bank this year! Epic Eric was busy and my boat is getting some work done to it so that leaves me fishing from the bank this year! I tried to make this Christmas video a bit entertaining but I also had to resort to some clips from last year's Christmas video because the fishing was tough on me for this one!

Who is SmallmouthCrush?
Travis Manson was born and raised where the giant Smallmouth Bass of the north live...WISCONSIN. He started fishing from the bank at a young age and spent most of his childhood with a rod in his hand. Travis is primarily a self-taught angler that is always learning and experiencing this amazing sport of fishing. He started out fishing for walleyes and fishing in local walleye tournaments, but then in his mid 20's, he caught the BASS BUG and has been hooked every since. He competed at the highest level in bass fishing on the Bassmaster Elite Series for a number of years. He is a fishing guide offering trips on the Chesapeake Bay for largemouth bass(year round), guided trips for smallmouth back in Wisconsin (during select times) and trophy smallmouth bass guided trips in Upstate New York (May-November) His Youtube Channel is named after his passion for the smallmouth bass and will be used as a platform for "how-to" videos, on the water instruction, crazy on and off the water topics and vlogs on the day in the life of a fishing addict!
