Ian Douglas Smith's first Interview for United States radio. The Interviewer is W.J. 'Bill' Simmons editor of the Citizen magazine of the The Citizen's Council Forum. It takes place in Salisbury, Rhodesia. They speak at length about the reasoning behind Rhodesia's Unilateral Declaration of Independence on the 11th of November 1965. The interview is very clear and the sound quality is excellent, one of the best I have heard from Rhodesia in the mid 60's. He speaks about how the Rhodesian UDI document was based partially on the United States Declaration of Independence amongst many other subjects.

Today in History - Rhodesia Proclaims Independence (11 Nov 1965)
On November 11, 1965, Rhodesia proclaimed its independence from Britain.
November 11th Rhodesia and the Unilateral Declaration of Independence from Great Britain. Ian Smith chose 11am on Remembrance Day, the anniversary of the 1918 armistice, for his radio broadcast in which he made the Unilateral Declaration of Independence. Ian Smith's government assumed wide powers, whilst in Britain Harold Wilson announced that all ties with the rebel regime were broken as a result of the declaration. The declaration provoke
Sir Oswald Mosley talks about Rhodesia on October the 8th 1965, 33 days before Ian Smith enacts the Rhodesian Unilateral Declaration of Independence. Very interesting to hear his take on the 'Rhodesian Question'
"Life in Africa during a White Rebellion against Britain! Interview with Jan Lamprecht about his life growing up in Rhodesia during the Rhodesian Bush war which took place after Prime Minister Ian Smith declared UDI (Unilateral Declaration of Independence) from Britain in 1965. This resulted in world sanctions against Rhodesia. The Russia’s, Chinese and Warsaw Pact communists trained and armed large numbers of blacks to fight the whites of Rhodesia. Jan is a Boer. Half of his large family moved from South Africa to Rhodesia in 1947. Boers were a minority in Rhodesia but they were 100% in support of the British Rhodesians who were fighting the black communists. Eventually the communists won and the Chinese backed communist, Robert Mugabe came to power in 1980."

"This is an interview I did with Ted of “A Stranger in my Own Land”. We discussed how Whites colonised Africa and what state Africa was in before whites came. Later we discussed in quite a lot of detail the many Liberation Wars in Africa and what really went on. Ted was quite astounded by the complexity of the many wars here against the whites and how the blacks were backed and funded. We discuss the many lies and misconceptions that the world’s Mass Media told about us whites in Africa."

??? ???????? ?????? ??? was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Victoria Falls to Salisbury with intermediate stops in Kariba. The flight was being operated by a Vickers Viscount (Reg. VP-WAS) on ????????? ?, ????.
The plane departed Kariba at 17:10. Shortly after departure, the starboard wing was hit by a 9K32 Strela-2 shoulder-fired, surface-to-air missile (also known as SA-7). An emergency descent was carried out and the crew tried to make an emergency landing in a large clearing in the bush.
The plane crash-landed, striking an irrigation ditch, cart-wheeled, broke up and caught fire. Fighters from the Zimbabwe Peoples Revolutionary Army (ZIPRA), also responsible for shooting down the airliner, later killed 10 of the 18 survivors. The rest of the survivors were rescued the next day.
