I saw this trick in ControlledExplosions' video and tried it on my old Hoover vacuum. It's probably from the early '70s, and sure enough, it has a universal AC/DC motor. When connected to a 9 volt battery, it spins up fast enough to generate a slight breeze out of the exhaust port.

This vintage Panasonic AM/FM mechanical flip clock radio has the best-sounding AM tuner I've ever heard from a clock radio (excluding those specifically designed for hi-fi sound). Selectivity isn't that great, but it is very wideband, and on a good AM music station it actually has a more balanced tone than FM, which comes out sounding rather shrill.

A visual clone of the legendary Technics SL1200 series, at ⅓ of the cost. This Audio-Technica is a heavyweight DJ-grade direct drive turntable with 78 RPM speed, quartz lock pitch control, fully adjustable S-shaped tonearm, and built-in pre-amp and USB output. As of September 2011, the AT-LP120 turntable now comes with an upgraded AT95E phono cartridge with elliptical stylus, rather than the ATP2 "DJ" cartridge shown in this video.
The previous AT-PL120 model is the same thing except without the built-in USB output (which I don't plan on using anyway).

Visopsys (the Visual Operating System) is one of the few open-source operating systems in development today which is not based on or a clone of Linux, Windows, MS-DOS, or anything else. CD/DVD, USB stick, and floppy disk images of it can be downloaded from https://visopsys.org
