John Holmes better known as Johnny Wadd (after the lead character he portrayed in a series of films), was, in the seventies the most prolific male adult film actors, with documented credits for at least 573 films famous for his giant cock. The Wonderland murders are four unsolved murders that occurred in Laurel canyon Los Angeles, California, USA on July 1, 1981. It is generally believed that five people were targeted to be killed in the known drug house of the Wonderland Gang, three of whom were present. All three of them, Ron Launius, Billy DeVerell, and Joy Miller, along with their accomplice Barbara Richardson, died from extensive blunt-force trauma injuries. Only Launius' wife, Susan Launius, survived the attack, allegedly masterminded by the organized crime figure and nightclub owner Eddie Nash. Nash, his henchman Gregory Diles and porn star John Holmes were at various times arrested, tried, and acquitted for their involvement in the murders. LAPD detectives are on record saying the crime scene was bloodier and more gruesome than that of the Tate-LaBianca murders.

The torture and the murder of Sylvia Likens happened in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA in October 1965. The 16-year-old was held captive, abused and tortured to death over a three month period by Gertrude Baniszewski, Baniszewski's children, and other neighborhood children. Likens' parents, who were carnival workers, had initially left Sylvia and her sister Jenny in the care of the Baniszewski family, paying Gertrude $20 a week to care for the sisters.
Baniszewski, her daughter Paula, her son John, and two neighborhood youths, Coy Hubbard and Richard Hobbs, were tried and convicted of torturing and murdering Likens. The case was described by the prosecutor in Baniszewski's trial as "the most terrible crime ever committed in the state of Indiana".This is brutality that one can't imagine when sanctioned by the family and involving so many people and it only came to an end when Sylvia Likens heart stopped.
How could this happen? How did the family get away with such brutality under everybody's noses?
