Republican Senator Josh Hawley has decided to get in on the corporation bashing, and he has introduced legislation to strip The Disney Corporation of their copyright protections for the character of Mickey Mouse. Hawley has made it clear, by literally saying out loud, that this is because Disney is a "woke" corporation and he wants to punish them for that. Republican Senator Josh Holly, not that long ago was basically considered to be one of the front runners for the Republican nomination in 2024. He had made a name for himself, but then suddenly for about a year or so, been a little quiet, right? We haven't seen as much from Josh Holly because there's so many other little nut jobs running around in the G O P, but in a desperate attempt to get himself back in the headlines this week, Josh Holly announced in, uh, legislation. He was introducing to strip woke Disney of their copyright protection for the character of Mickey mouse. Now this copyright protection was expected to expire in 2024. Uh, Disney has actually come up against other deadlines where it was about to expire. Congress always extended it for him because Hey, it's Disney. This is Mickey mouse. It's their property. They should have the copyright protection. It shouldn't be in the public domain. Disney has argued and Josh Holly's legislation would of course, S strip Disney of these protections along with some other, you know, industries, companies, you could lose your copyrights too, but that's kind of collateral damage because Holly has made it clear that this legislation, the sole purpose of it is to punish Disney for speaking out about Florida's, don't say gay legislation, this is an abuse of power. This is the kind of thing that honestly 10 years ago would not have even been thinkable for a sitting member of Congress to introduce. And if they did, it likely would've been the end of their political career. There was a time, no matter how crazy American politics was, where abuse power was abusive power, there is no legislative reason why this piece of legislation that Holly has introduced needs to be enacted. Okay, that's the big thing we have to understand here. Was there a need for this legislation? Absolutely not. It is all about retaliation against Disney, which of course is an abuse of power. The dissolving of their special tax district down here in the state of Florida by Ron DeSantis, that was an abuse of power. And now we just accept those things as, as the normal way of business for Republican politicians. And that's insane. It's insane that we sit here and we talk about these things without addressing the fact that this party has become so extreme that they're now quite literally biting the hands that have fed them for decades. Disney was a solid Republican donor folks where they messed up of course was saying, Hey, we received a ton of backlash for not speaking out about this legislation. So we're speaking out about it. Don't do it. You should, uh, get rid of it. There you go. There, that's our stance. We're Disney and now all hell is raining upon them because of that. So I don't know What's happen. Honestly, if Disney loses their copyright, I personally don't care. It does not affect my life at all. Honestly, it's not even gonna affect Disney that much either, but the abuse of power by these Republicans, as long as they continue to be successful, yes, that impacts my life. Um, but, but thank you for that continued support and just, I, I like to rehash this because I don't think people quite realize this Ring of Fire has been on the air since 2004. You know, obviously if you've been with us for a while, you've been with us through Air America, through Go Left tv, through YouTube, through Free Speech tv, through the Young Turks, uh, through Papp's show on rt. Well, the answer to that's pretty simple. Who's paying their campaigns? It's not the immigrants. The immigrants aren't the ones out there funding these Republican campaigns? No. It's those corporations. And this is actually something that Papp and I bring up on America's lawyer, which by the way, uh, we go live with that on, on YouTube on Thursdays. Um, but anyway, the reason these corporations continue to get away with using migrant labor, you know, whether it's home or abroad, is because they've paid off the politicians. One of the things we see happen frequently is migrant workers, you know, illegal aliens over here in the United States just working a job and sending money back home, right? And I'm sorry, but in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with that. I, I'm not even bothered that they really didn't go through the correct channels to get in here. They're not here committing crimes. They're here working a job to send money to their families. They're not the criminals. The criminals are the people hiring them because not only are they hiring somebody they know legally isn't supposed to be working here, which again, even that I don't have a problem with. The problem is the way they treat these people. They pay them substandard wages often below the living wage, the minimum wage, where in their areas they do not give them any protections. They use coercion to prevent these individuals from reporting any problems on the job. You know, like, oh, hey, we don't have hard hats here. Well, if you report me for working you in these unsafe conditions, I'm gonna report you for being illegal and ship you back. And there's another issue here. Um, a couple years ago, there was a, I think it was a meat packing plant, Mississippi or Louisiana. I talked about it at the time, and I've brought it up several times since then. They had a big sting operation where they busted couple hundred migrant workers who were working illegally at this factory down here in the south. They took 'em all outside, they had them in handcuffs. The school bus pulled up with like these people's kids because that's where they got dropped off after school. And they go out there, they see their parents in handcuffs, they get deported. The owner of the factory, the management, the people who knowingly hired these workers. Nothing happened to them, nothing happens to them. And the reason nothing happens to them goes back to the main point is because they've paid off the politicians, corporations will never, ever, ever allow either political party to stop the flow of immigrants into the United States.
