Break the limits of your Arduino! Learn, how to get the most out of it.
Learn fast and efficient programming of the digital IOs by utilizing the port registers DDRx, PORTx and PINx.
Compared to state of the art 32 Bit ARM Cores of recent microcontrollers, the Arduino's Atmega AVR 8-bit cores with 16 MBit clock speed have a rather poor performance. Therefore, they are cheap, reliable and there is a huge community of makers and devolopers. There is also an easy to use C library, so even beginners can quickly get a feeling of success.
But when it comes to more complex projects with higher demands for computing power, the Atmega meets its limits. But if you know the internals of this microcontroller, you can really code awesome stuff on it.

VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) tubes are a good alternative to Nixie tubes in retro clocks. See how they work and how they can be interfaced to a microcontroller like an Arduino or ESP32. I show the legendary russian IV-11 tubes, which look very nice in retro clocks.
This video is a part of my steampunk Digital Pendulum Clock Project.
