X Plane 11 Flying Tips - Navigation & Magnetic Variation
There is so much to learn when flying and we can use X Plane 11 and some quality flying tips I have for you to make your flying knowledge better. In real world navigation we use charts to navigate when we don't have a GPS or even if we do we still need to take into account the earths magnetic variation.
This throws off compasses a lot around the world. So lets take a look during this nav flight from Truro Air Park to Murray Bridge in South Australia. A flight I have done for real a number of times in the trusty Jabiru 170.

If you like to simulate dangerous situations you may encounter in real flight then this is the place to come. W e are all about entertainment and not necessarily trying to be a tutorial channel as I am not an Instructor.
I have over 20 years in aviation but my background is military aircraft but not as a pilot. I am/was a technician with experience on all the RAAF had to offer while I was in the Air Force. I was truly fortunate and also got to fly in many of the transports, helicopters even doing some door gunnery.
For me the highlight was having a fun flight in a Mirage IIIO and flights on Macchi Jet trainers. More fun with your clothes on you cannot have... :)

Lets jump into X-plane fighter performance mode and lets fly the mighty Hurricane around Biggin Hill which is a famous wartime airfield.
Flying the real classic fighters like the Spitfire and Hurricane are a dream most of us will never fulfill but X Plane 11 enables us to jump into the cockpit of these iconic fighters and wheel them through the sky and bring them back to earth, as challenging as that does prove to be!
Jump into the cockpit with me and lets take the Hurricane Mk 2 for a spin over the very green and vacant Biggin Hill. I'm guessing this may have been the original fighter base so some new building may soon find their way to this historic airfield.

X- Plane 11.30 R1 has really raised the game. The particle system which effects clouds, exhaust and G effects from the wings is amazing so lets go fly something fast like the McDonald Douglas F4 Phantom and tear up the sky.
Carrier operations are a lot of fun so we can check out how to launch the Phantom and land it again in a short flight which has a few challenges.

Just loving the new DCS 2.8 AI combat. They are so much better so took the F 16 up against F 35 for a challenge - I think Ill try the F-22 as well. Took some work to get it and it has made me pay as well. Great work Eagle Dynamics! Just love the graphics performance and clarity in VR now with the full implementation of VULCAN API. Nice!

I love some good mountains and great scenery makes for an exciting low level flight so today we are flying from Prop Strike Studios Machmell Fisheries back to Bella Coola. Its 40 NM of excitement with a flight through the valleys and mountains of Canada is lots of fun. I thought a low level valley run would be a fun way to get there. :)

The cloud base was also a consideration as it was low with the real world weather in X Plane 11 turned on as I nearly always do so climbing above the cloud was out of the question.
The new Air Superiority Blue camo made the Robin just like an F15.... Ok .. Not really but it looks cool. :)

Experiencing the exhilaration of combat with the amazing f16 vs f18 dogfight scenario created in Mission Editor. I flew this 1 v 1 flight in VR in my Oculus Rift S and its so clear. Chasing the F-18 Hornet with Veteran AI enabled proves to be a challenge. Full afterburner flight and getting the Hornet in my HUD was a challenge .... A challenge to far .... I really love spinning aircraft in X Plane 11 because it feels so realistic, especially when done in virtual reality with my Oculus Rift S.X Plane 11 flight school aircraft spinning practice. This is really incredibly scary and unbelievable aircraft spinning in X Plane 11. It ultimately shows how realistic flight sims like X Plane 11. Aircraft spinning is a lot of fun and a great leaning experience in your favorite flight simulator. Today we are in X Plane 11 and the freeware Ziln-142 which is huge fun to throw around doing aerobatics and spinning. It has some quirks of its own we will discover in this and a new upcoming video on adverse yaw. That one is a head spinner as well.
