IK Multimedia iRig Pre HD Interface Review / Explained
Today we’re looking at an awesome travel interface that records HD (24-bit 96kHz) to USB or Lightning (iOS), all for $100, the IK Multimedia iRig Pre HD. This thing also offers low latency, approximately +60dB of gain, 0 latency monitoring, and +48v of phantom power!

Today we check out Rode’s “Broadcast” condenser microphone aptly named the Broadcaster. This thing has a full body in the low endand plenty of clarity which makes for a nice broadcast tone, especially when you throw on a compressor and de-esser. The mic does suffer from plosives, and does lean a bit on the sibilant side though, but all around it’s still a nice spoken word microphone. On the other hand, for music applications, I don’t think it stands out among the other options on the market.

WARNING: I no longer recommend using a USB soundcard to connect a microphone to your computer. It has become too unreliable due to manufacturers altering the components used in their products as well as alterations to operating systems causing additional problems. The only method of connecting a microphone to your computer that I recommend is with a USB AUDIO INTERFACE that is designed specifically for that use case.

Today we’re looking at the brand new Mixer, Audio Interface, Portable Recorder, Podcast Studio from Rode; the Rodecaster Pro. This thing has a fixed A/D conversion of 24-bit, 48kHz, offers +55dB of gain, has onboard processing, a soundboard, auto mix minus, and everything else you would need to start a podcast (as long as you don’t want to multi track, manipulate the processing, or run outboard gear). Let me know your thoughts of this device in the comments.

Today I review the Lauten Audio LA220. This is a large diaphragm FET condenser microphone, that is a utilitarian workhorse. It offers a smooth and even sound to it that works great for spoken word and singing as well as acoustic guitar. I also compare it to the Rode NT1, Neewer NW7000, Audio Technica AT2020, and Sennheiser MK4.

On episode 1 of Creator Case Study, I talk to Beautiful OB to discuss how he grew his gaming channel from 0 subscribers to over 100,000 subscribers. We talk about why his Brick Rigs videos were so popular, how he keeps his content fresh, and how much work he put in prior to hitting it big. Hopefully in this discussion you can find some helpful advice to improve your content and grow your audience.
Subscribe to Beautiuful OB: www.youtube.com/beautifulob
Lessons:
1. Play multiple games to avoid becoming associated with one game.
2. Tag your videos so they suggest each other.
3. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get popular immediately.
4. Be critical of your own videos. Watch them, and find things to improve for the next video.
5. Research SEO & implement that knowledge.

Today we look at my youtube / podcast / streaming studio setup from microphone, to headphones to cameras to keyboard. Please keep in mind, this is complete overkill, and you DO NOT need this type of setup to make content. You can easily get by with a $50 webcam and $50 microphone.
