Crandall Flyer 1936 Stepped Hydroplane - 1/4 Scale Large RC Model Boat Plans
Designed by Bruce N. Crandall in 1936. The Flyer is the largest of the Crandall hydroplanes, Class C 135 Cu.
It was designed to meet the new rules on minimum boat length and beam in 1936 for the Class C 135 cubic Inch craft.
The new rules called for a boat no less than 13.5 feet in length at the waterline and a minimum of 4 feet 4 inches beam.

The Flyer was designed for maximum speed in competitive conditions, with straight away speed, turning ability and rough water handling proportioned to allow maximum race speed.

The stepped hydroplanes dominated the race circuits until the advent of the 3 point hydroplanes that still race today.
