Forget wearables: Future washable smart clothes powered by Wi-Fi will monitor your health
Purdue University engineers have developed a method to transform existing cloth items into battery-free wearables resistant to laundry. These smart clothes are powered wirelessly through a flexible, silk-based coil sewn on the textile.

The Tech company Apple has been busy assembling a team to work on an automobile.
According to the New York Times report, the company has collected about 200 people over the last few years — both from inside Apple and from potential competitors like Tesla — to develop technologies for an electric car. People are naming it as Apple Car or icar.
The car project of Apple is still in its prototype. It could also go nowhere if Apple struggles to find a compelling business opportunity in automobiles, a business that typically has much lower sales margins than the products the company currently sells, like the iPhone.
Many of Apple’s newer employees have come from companies that specialize in battery and automotive technologies. Apple has hired many engineers from A123 Systems, Tesla and Toyota to work on advanced battery technologies.
Electric-car battery maker A123 Systems is suing Apple in court for allegedly poaching five employees to help it develop a competing battery business.
According to Bloomberg.com, Apple Wants to Start Producing Cars as Soon as 2020.
Former GM CEO Dan Akerson issued a stern warning to Apple against making cars
He says that making cars was hard, so Apple should focus on helping existing automakers with in-car electronics.

Scientists have created a highly sensitive terahertz detector based on the effect of quantum-mechanical tunneling in graphene. The sensitivity of the device is already superior to commercially available analogs based on semiconductors and superconductors, which opens up prospects for applications of the graphene detector in wireless communications, security systems, radio astronomy, and medical diagnostics. The research results are published in the journal Nature Communications.

Researchers have solved a major problem for optical wireless communications - the process by which light carries information between cell phones and other devices. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) pulse their light in a coded message that recipient devices can understand.
Now, a team of researchers based in Japan has married the two options into the ideal combination of long lasting and fast LEDs. They published their results in the journal Applied Physics Letters.
