As we approach the end of Thanksgiving week, we felt it would be appropriate to dedicate an episode of Study Group to the friendly nature of God, which we feel grateful for!
This insight about the character of Deity is not only one of Jesus’ most wonderful teachings, it is also vividly demonstrated by Jesus himself as he lived his human life on this world.
We’ll be looking at a few of our favorite examples of Jesus’ friendliness, while also exploring how this characteristic of the divine nature can find expression in our own lives, as a natural and direct result of the presence of the Father’s spirit within us. All of this helps us to understand that we truly live in a friendly universe. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UhmcQQJXPc

STUDY GROUP- Inevitabilities Part 1
The “problem of evil” has long been a matter of religious and philosophical debate, even going back to the days of the ancient Greeks. If God is good, why is there so much evil in the world? Over the next three episodes of Study Group, we’ll be approaching this question from the perspective of the Urantia Book’s presentation of “certain inevitabilities” that “beset all evolutionary creature life.” (3:5.5)
We begin with the comforting reminder that no matter what manner of tragedy may befall us, it is in the parental nature of God to “affectionately share these sufferings in loving companionship.” (110:0.1) Overcoming the hardships, difficulties, and disappointments that we must inevitably face during our lives, produces the growth of many desirable qualities of character. The book describes nine of these, and we’ll be looking at the first three in this episode: courage, altruism, and hope. -CT

Jesus’ “Instruction for Teachers and Believers,” from the Decapolis Tour, includes this intriguing statement: “Increasing happiness is always the experience of all who are certain about God.” (159:3.10) He was putting forward the message that the religion of the spirit is joyful and characterized by good humor, but this possibility of “increasing happiness” speaks to the heart of our human condition. Happiness can often seem elusive and fraught with psychological and emotional issues.
In this episode of Study Group, we’ll be looking at passages that explain how the “certainty” of our companionship with God, when combined with determination to achieve worthy goals, establishes ideal conditions for happiness to grow. Avoiding isolation and responding to the needs of others are additional keys to happiness.
