I would have to rank todays trims in the top 5 hardest trims I have ever done.
Firstly because I am nowhere near as fit as I once was and had to have a spell after each foot. Secondly the temp was around 38dC and thirdly their feet were as hard as concrete, apart from that they behaved like good little ponies

White line disease or shelling as it is called in sheep so they say, I think there is more to it than that with mechanical flaring, too long between maintenance trims?
At times the laminar seems to grow excessively, bulging and laying across the sole creating a gap between it and the hoof wall and allowing dirt to penetrate and seperate the gap. Has anyone else experienced similar?

Most of the horses I have trimmed in the last few weeks around the traps have had this malady to some extent most likely due to the prolonged damp weather I would say

In 2009 we began barefoot trimming our horses then following further research and a desire to improve knowledge and hands on expertise we undertook a course with TAassy Pollytech which included an initial 2 week intensive practical. Since that time 5 years ago we have trimmed thousands of hooves both good & really bad as well as maintain our own herd.
