PreSonus Revelator Dynamic USB-C Mic & Interface First Look with Audio Demo
This is a quick first unboxing and look at the PreSonus Revelator USB-C microphone and audio interface. There is a ton to talk about with this mic, but the big highlights are the included FAT Channel processing that PreSonus is well known for, and the Loopback functionality they've added to this unit. Not one, but TWO virtual interfaces allow you to route audio between software like zoom, skype, teams or discord, and your DAW, browser or other playback source. It's a huge deal for an interface and mic in this price range & I can't wait to dig into it all in the full video coming soon.
The Samson SRK-12 rack is a pretty good option for gear that's not going out on the road. For rolling around the studio or office, these simple racks might do the job for you. This is just a super quick look at how they go together & what it all looks like with a few bits and pieces racked up. This one didn't need a long drawn out video, but it feels strange to upload something so short here to the main channel on YouTube. Let me know if you like this type of video here in the future.

#211 - Apparently the price mentioned in the video was a sale price according to the EV website - although when I purchased it on Amazon it appeared to be the normal price. At the time of filming, there is promotion on EV's website for $50 off the $299 regular price, it runs through the end of March 2021 on their site, so we'll see if the prices change everywhere after that. Right now, it's an even better deal than I was aware of.
This video is all about looking at the RE320 for broadcasting, podcasting & making YouTube content like this channel does. Broadcast mics are great at getting big sound without a ton of background noise. Large diaphragm dynamic elements make this magic happen. Many popular ones like the sm7b from Shure, unfortunately have such a low sensitivity that they require additional boost circuits like the Cloudlifter to achieve usable levels on many interfaces. The RE320 is slightly more sensitive and for my use gets right into the comfort zone of the preamps I like to use.
Check it out and let me know what you think.

#210 - The GVM 800D-RGB is an inexpensive RGB LED video light that offers some really handy effects and background options. Tons of questions have come in this past year about working from home and needing to get setup for video. Even if you have no interest in video making, no one wants to look bad at work. It has certainly been a struggle at times, but overall, everyone has done a remarkable job of adjusting to life as content creators.
What if you've been at it a while now though & still aren't happy with the results? We should probably revisit your lighting. That's what lead me to buying this fixture honestly. I have a few good lights, and everything works, but it wasn't making me happy. I've tried backdrops and began considering a green screen. Considering the expense of properly hanging and lighting a green-screen, it seemed smart to just light the background first.

The Membership feature is apparently available now that the channel has passed 20k subscribers!
YouTube's instructions say to just post a welcome message here and it will activate the feature - so we'll see what happens in a few minutes.
It is really important to say that the support from the DCSO Crew on Patreon has made this channel possible over the years. It has been a privilege getting to know everyone who has helped out there & and even getting to meet some of you offline too.
But in that time, a lot of folks have said they just don’t want to sign up on another platform to support the channel & that's completely understandable. Now the option is available here, which is great. It should make it easier to interact more & connect with everyone in their preferred place.
This membership costs $3 a month & gets you early access to new videos - member's badges in the comments & chats (the channel's first Premier was today & it was a blast!) - priority replies to comments & chats - as well as access to members only posts and polls.
Each new member will also get a pop-up shout-out to say thanks individually in an upcoming video.
For now, DcSoundOp Stickers are still only available through Patreon.com/dcsoundop - those memberships cost a bit more to cover shipping and printing and all of that.
Thanks for watching & for coming together to help make these videos possible.

The factory replacement driver for the Fostex 6301 series speaker has been out of stock for a while now at all of the usual places. I recently picked up a 6301d that works but has been used hard over a lot of years and needs a new driver. So while the Fostex model is out of stock or out of production, we're forced to consider other replacement speakers. Hopefully, they will be available again soon, but in the meantime, why not try the most popular 4" car stereo replacement speaker on Amazon?
In this quick video, that's exactly what we're doing. We're going to stick a Boss BRS-40 into the 6301 cabinet and hear how it compares to the original, albeit clapped-out, driver. It would be great to get hold of a new factory driver to test against the popular options, so let me know if you've got a line on any of those for sale. There are also other 4" full-range speaker options out there, so let me know if you think one would work better for this box.
