Here are some test simulations and renders of cloth at various different settings. This is my attempt at learning how the settings affect the outcome.
I also used the Filmic color management. But I'm not 100% sure i know what I am doing with Filmic. But the render does seem to look better with Filmic than without. That too will take time to understand completely.
Here's a good crash course on the Filmic Color Management system, how to install it, what it does and how to use it. Blender Guru does a much better job explaining it than I could.
