Using one PWM output on the Uno, up to four channels of 8-bit video game music and sound effects can be generated from various waveforms stored in memory, including some wave shaping and modulation options.
I also tried to reproduce some DTMF and other call progress telephone tones by generating multiple simultaneous tones - they sound right to me but I'd still like to test them using a DTMF decoder IC.

Using the MAX7219 to control four 8x8 LED matrix modules and create a scrolling text sign.
Text scrolling examples include a YouTube subscriber counter and custom text entered via WiFi into a web server running in the ESP8266.
Note: The LED library defaults to 50% intensity so I should make a test sketch to ensure running all LEDs at full intensity and check the current consumption again. Will update at that point.

Taking a look inside a solar rechargeable LED garden light from the dollar store. I hope to be able to fit some custom electronics inside in future projects but for now I wanted to understand how the charger and LED driver work, and look at voltages and signals on the Fluke and scope.

This Christmas Tree PCB uses an ATTiny85 to control 8 WS2812B Neopixels with selectable display patterns (which need some work but are functional for now). Push buttons can cycle through the display options as well as enable two PWM outputs intended to draw a Christmas tree on an oscilloscope in XY mode.

This PCB provides an I2C interface to control 555 timer frequency and the ability to switch multiple audio channels on and off to create simple or complex tones, melodies, or sound effects.
Arduino Uno is used as the I2C controller in this project.

When my NiMH AA mouse batteries were running low, I only had AAA batteries on hand so I used neodymium magnets to extend the length to fit temporarily.
While doing that, a bunch of components on the bench decided to attack a magnet, reminding me of another idea for putting them to use on the workbench.

This is a new version of a previous color organ project where I hoped to make improvements, and although it's better, I made 1 or 2 mistakes so I have to re-build part of it on a breadboard while testing out the partially soldered PCB.
I explain what went wrong and how it should have been designed, then I go through some bench testing with the corrected design on the breadboard.

This experiment was inspired by pcb heat sink copper test data found in the AMS1117 LDO datasheet. It suggested that beyond a certain point, it may provide little further advantage to keep adding heat sink copper in a pcb layout.
I wanted to try a few layouts to see how it looked, including whether top and bottom copper layers were electrically connected or not.

This is a 32 channel driver pcb intended to drive relays and solenoids, or other resistive or inductive loads.
It uses ULN2803 transistor drivers for the output control, and the logic is controlled by a pair of MCP23017 GPIO expanders over I2C.
