Cristian Pavón-Piñeda, 11, died of what his parents suspect was hypothermia after millions of Texans had their power cut due to freak winter weather. His parents are suing Texas energy providers for the prolonged outages.
The family of Cristian Pavón-Piñeda, an 11-year-old boy who died last Tuesday amid winter storms that shook Texas and left millions in subfreezing cold without power, has filed a lawsuit against utility providers seeking $100 million.
Cristian's mother, María Piñeda, told Telemundo Houston that the family awoke on Tuesday to find the boy in his bed, apparently unresponsive. He was confirmed dead later that afternoon by medical staff in Conroe.
The family of five had been without electricity for two days, and the temperature in their mobile home dipped as low as 10 degrees overnight Monday into Tuesday morning.
As NBC affiliate KPRC reported, investigators have said they are still trying to determine Cristian's cause of death. They said an autopsy has been completed, but they are awaiting the results of other tests before making a determination. They said a carbon monoxide test in the home was negative.
The family is suing Entergy Texas, a utility company serving areas north of Houston, and the nonprofit Energy Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) for damages. The family is accusing Entergy and ERCOT of failing to warn people of a hazard, providing inaccurate and incomplete advice and information to customers and participating in and contributing to acts that caused the incident in question, among other things, KPRC reported. Houston attorney Tony Buzbee is representing the family.
ERCOT told Telemundo Houston it had not yet reviewed the lawsuit. Entergy said in a written statement: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of life in our community. We are unable to comment due to pending litigation.”
Cristian moved to the U.S. from Honduras two years ago. His grandparents and other relatives who still live in Honduras are now waiting for his body to be repatriated so he can be buried there.
“You put it underneath your skin and what that tells you is that there are chemical reactions going on inside the body”
The Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is working on a COVID vaccine that will work on all variants and has developed an implantable microchip that it says will continuously monitor the human body for signs of the virus.
Retired Colonel Matt Hepburn, an army infectious disease physician heading up DARPA’s response to the pandemic, appeared on 60 Minutes to demonstrate the technology.
Holding up a vial of green tissue-like gel, which contains the chip, Hepburn proclaimed “You put it underneath your skin and what that tells you is that there are chemical reactions going on inside the body, and that signal means you are going to have symptoms tomorrow.”
“It’s like a ‘check engine’ light,” Hepburn added, noting that those with the chip “would get the signal, then self-administer a blood draw and test themselves on site.”
“We can have that information in three to five minutes,” Hepburn continued, adding “As you truncate that time, as you diagnose and treat, what you do is you stop the infection in its tracks.”
Hepburn also declared that DARPA has developed a filter to remove the virus from the blood via a dialysis machine, and that the FDA has approved it, and it has already been used on 300 patients.
The 60 Minitues report also highlights how the pentagon has hundreds of tissue samples from soldiers and sailors infected with pathogens all over the world, including the 1918 Spanish Flu which killed millions globally.
Pentagon scientist Dr Kayvon Modjarrad also highlighted that the military is developing a one size fits all vaccine for COVID, commenting “This is not science fiction, this is science fact.”
“We have the tools, we have the technology, to do this all right now,” he said explaining that the goal is to inoculate people against potentially deadly viruses that have not even appeared yet.
“Killer viruses that we haven’t seen or even imagined, we’ll be protected against,” Modjarrad declared.
It was recently revealed that a third of active duty service members opted out of taking the COVID vaccine, with sources claiming the actual figure is probably closer to half.
The finding prompted the likes of TIME to declare that ‘vaccine hesitancy’ is threatening national security, and that while “These troops may not be co-opted by domestic terrorists, but they are clearly influenced by conspiracy theorists online and they just don’t trust basic science.”
The DARPA announcement of implantable microchip technology tied to the virus and a vaccine will likely only serve to enforce concerns the media continually describes as ‘conspiracy theories.’
It is becoming disturbingly apparent that our nations are gearing up for some type of conflict, beit armed or unarmed, the amassment of forces, power and influence, regardless of whatever side of the political aisle you're on should alarm you. The effects of the previous year have left a devastating impact on people's psyche, essentially making them psychologically inept to what's happening around them which makes them even more susceptible to confusion and control. All of these subversive manipulations are culminating, not in a loss of more rights, but in the robbing of our identity.
Indeed, the very notion of nationalism, patriotism and even being a citizen is being called into question. Hard-fought freedoms and liberties are being held hostage by ambiguous and intentionally shadowy forces so that they can be exploited for further gain. Society as a whole is being disrupted and technologically augmented to enable the advancement of scientific dictatorship.
As all of this is happening, the revelation of the new world order, we're seeing the last vestiges of nationalism being pitted against one another in a zero-sum game; no one wins from all out, total war. The only people who benefit from the chaos and destruction are the ones who caused it, the arms dealers and the chaos makers. Awakening to this fact is the only chance we have for a salvageable future.

The mayor of Austin Texas, Steve Adler (D), said Thursday that city officials are “just trying to keep people alive and safe” over the next few days as hundreds of thousands remain without power due to the crippling winter storm that hit the state.
Adler told CNN’s “New Day” that the situation in Austin is “pretty dire” as problems including snow and ice, subzero temperatures, power outages and limited heat and water keep mounting for residents.
“It is too much to ask of anybody,” he said, noting the persistent impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. “People are angry and confused and frustrated and I am too.”
The mayor called on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and other state officials to provide “a better explanation” of what happened and what will be done to prevent similar problems in the future. He acknowledged that the current priority is to help people get water, heat, food and shelter.
“The truth is that right now we’re just trying to keep people alive and safe for the next two days, so that’s where all of our focus is,” Adler told CNN.
“Somebody needs to explain what it is that happened here — why we got to this place,” he added. “We also need an explanation and an understanding of how we’re not gonna get back here again.”
When CNN’s Alisyn Camerota questioned Adler on who or what was to blame, the mayor said it was “real clear” that the power grid in Texas “wasn’t hardened to be able to take the really low temperatures” and requested the state “better regulate our power system.”
"Somebody needs to explain what it is that happened here ... and an understanding of how it is we're not going to get back here again," Austin Mayor Steve Adler said, adding that he expects the Texas governor and leaders "to give us a better explanation"https://t.co/KW1cpfNANP pic.twitter.com/gHfvmQgjSC

Texas was slammed by a winter storm and low temperatures over the past few days, prompting its grid operator, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), to order rolling blackouts starting on Monday due to high demand.
The order led to massive backlash as millions were left without power on Tuesday and Wednesday, although as of Thursday, that number dropped to more than 530,000 without power, according to poweroutage.us. Abbott called for the state legislature to investigate ERCOT due to the operator’s response to the disaster.
Austin Energy also warned on Wednesday that its customers could remain without power for another week or more.
