Day 2, 15:10–15:40

PyCon Taiwan 2023|Keynote 基調演講|Day 1, 10:30–11:30
? 說明 Description ?
As Python keeps evolving and attracts an ever-growing community with unique perspectives, steering council members and core developers face the enthralling challenge of preserving Python's fundamental identity. In this talk, we embark on a journey, exploring how Python retains its essence while evolving, accommodating new features, and embracing diverse viewpoints. From balancing innovation and compatibility, to navigating the maze of language design, we will discuss what fortifies Python against change and how we prepare to make complicated decisions that may change the language forever.
About Speaker - Pablo Galindo Salgado ?
Pablo Galindo Salgado works in the Python Infrastructure team at the Software Infrastructure department at Bloomberg L.P. He is a CPython core developer and a Theoretical Physicist specializing in general relativity and black hole physics. He is currently serving on the Python Steering Council and he is the release manager for Python 3.10 and 3.11. He has also a cat but he does not code.

Talks
Abstract ?
In relation to Internet of Things, micro services, and big data, a developer is easily being expected to handle the stream of data flow. A growing fantasy of Reactive programming is being told that a paradigm can help people to face these challenges in theory and practice and to make life easier. Is it True? Or, does it SCALE?
Join the quest to to discover reactive design and data workflow implemented in Python. We’ll inspect their features and use cases of reactive programming, to name a few, Python built-in, PyFunctional, RxPy, Flexx, async and await (and asyncio), Promise, … etc., study their best practices, and discover the elegant part compared with commonly seen sequential chaining. We also want to know when it may complicate your code.
About Speaker - Keith Yang ?
Recently he enjoys skateboard commute, still coffee-achemy, and indoor cycle while programming or gaming, an awesome mind vocation of leaving FB and IG. Keith is the founder and co-organizer of Taipei.py, largest Python user group in Taiwan, a Lead Software Engineer at iCHEF, and was Chairperson of PyCon APAC 2015. His work mostly focuses on web/backend/cloud services since 2006, and he hands on kernel tools of virtualization on hypervisors in 2016.

Day 2, R0 16:30–17:15
In this talk, I will present how to recognise speakers and their speaking sessions in a filmed meeting using deep learning (deep convolutional neural networks; CNN). This project uses the "transfer learning" approach. Pre-trained CNN models, such as the VGG face descriptor used in this project, enable everyone to analyse photos or videos without training his own CNN. I will explain how to use a pre-trained model to extract face features and use clustering methods to identify different people without knowing their identity in advance. Results of a real case will be shown. Application and restriction of this method will be discussed.
The speaker did not upload his slides.

Abstract ?
We will have a look of how Python is used in Debian and its derivatives like Ubuntu. For example, what "software components" Python "glues" in such GNU/Linux distribution are, and how to implement them. If you are a user of Debian or Ubuntu, you may be surprised that you are using so much Python everyday.
? 說明 Description ?
The father of Python, Guido, published his famous essay "Glue It All Together With Python" in 1998. People probably started to descript Python as a glue language since then.
A GNU/Linux distribution is a collection of software components, including applications and libraries.
As a GNU/Linux distribution, Debian, and Debian's derivatives, e.g. Ubuntu, they use Python to "glue" themselves as well.
In this talk, I am going to talk about some examples of how Python works as a glue language, including as a scripting language, in the (GNU/Linux Debian/Ubuntu) distributions, and the examples of how the glue of Python is made. By understanding the "glue role" of Python in these distributions, it will help users and developers know their own distribution more.
