This is a full playthrough of Merger 3D using RGMNext, which is an interpreter for games using the Raycaster Game Maker allowing high resolutions, high fps, widescreen, options, and above all... PROPER CONTROLS. The controls bit actually turns Merger 3D from "total shit" to a "meh" experience, it makes a whole world of difference. If you ever make a game, ensure the controls are tight, ok? Old regular version review: Merger 3D (aka "Synthes 3D") is Wolf3D-like game made on some shitty 3D game engine. While the game might give a correct first impression with nice pixel art and really awesome midi music from James "Jimmy" Paddock... It quickly crumbles once you start playing: The game has absolutely no options at all, monsters are all the same hitscan except for the melee ones, 4 of the levels are a smallish hub level with nothing to do in it, and above all... Playing it is a pain in the butt, mouse input is beyond borked, no matter the dpi or polling rate, the character turns at a fixed speed and if you move the mouse too fast it will stop turning. The character will also stop turning if you receive damage so you might die without a chance of even turning around. On top of that, according to Jimmy, no one asked for permission to use the music in this. Si alguna vez creais un juego, que los controles sean decentes, ¿ok? Mi review de Merger 3D sin modificar: Merger 3D (tambien "Synthes 3D") es un tipo Wolf3D hecho un motor de juegos 3D patatero. Aunque el juego puede dar una buena primera impresión con un píxel art majo y música genial de James "Jimmy" Paddock... Rápidamente se desmorona cuando empiezas a jugar: El juego no tiene opciones en absoluto, los monstruos son todos hitscan iguales a excepción de los perros, y sobre todo... Jugarlo es un dolor, el ratón está rotísimo, no importan los dpis o el polling rate, el personaje siempre gira a la misma velocidad y si mueves el ratón muy rápido para de girar. El personaje también para de girar si recibe daño, por lo que puedes morir sin ni siquiera tener la oportunidad de darte la vuelta. Además, según Jimmy, nadie ha pedido permiso para usar la música. No commentary playthrough of Hexen: Beyond Heretic. Played on max difficulty, using GZDoom. This playthrough is and update over my previousone and is meant to be the ultimate one. Improvements: - 4K, for better bitrate and overall video quality - Shows all secret levels - Played with every player class - Highest difficulty level Hexen is 1995's Raven Software spinoff for Heretic, set in the same world, where you go on the hunt for another of the Serpent Riders. This time around the game world is set in level hubs, where you do different tasks in each one of the levels to unlock new sections in the other levels and eventually solve one big hub puzzle. You now can also choose between 3 different player characters with different weapons, run speed, and use of certain inventory items. It's Hexen! You either love it or hate it. For me, I do love how the game looks, the weapons, the enemies, the weapon sound effects, the desings, the atmosphere... Literally everything but the game itself. The overdone puzzles can do for a very frustrating first playthrough with lots of wtf moments wondering what does mean that the switch you just activated did just do. The enemies are just time fillers between the switches and there's no point in killing them (if they dropped gold or xp at least...). There are death pits and insta death traps. The player classes are cool, but in the end you are stuck with just 4 weapons during your playthrough. It's a good game... if you happen to like enough aspects of it and tolerate its shortcomings. --------- Playthrough sin comentar de Hexen: Beyond Heretic. Jugado en máxima dificultad usando GZDoom. Este playthrough es una mejora sobre el anterior que había subido y debería ser el definitivo. Mejoras: - En 4K para mejor bitrate y calidad de vídeo - Enseña todos los niveles secretos - Máximo nivel de dificultad - Jugado con las 3 clases Hexen es el spinoff de Heretic que Raven Software lanzó en 1995. Situado en el mismo mundo, ahora vas a la caza de otro de los Serpent Riders. El juego está dividido en bloques de niveles, en los que haces distintas tareas que desbloquean nuevas áreas en los demás niveles, con el objetivo de completar un gran puzzle en el nexo principal. También permite elegir entre varias clases de personaje, con distantas armas, velocidad y uso de ciertos objetos del inventario. ¿Qué voy a decir que no se haya dicho ya? ¡Es Hexen! Lo odias, o lo amas. En mi caso me encanta cómo luce, las armas, los diseños, los enemigos, la atmósfera, los efectos de sonido... Básicamente todo menos el juego en sí. Los puzzles enrevesados dan para un primer playthrough bastante frustrante con muchos momentos donde te preguntas qué carajo ha hecho el botón que acabas de activar. Los enemigos solamente son relleno para desperdiciar tu tiempo entre botón y botón (si al menos diesen oro o experiencia...). Hay pozos sin fondo y trampas que te matan instantáneamente. Lo de las clases está bien, pero luego te encuentras con tan sólo 4 armas distintas durante el playthrough. Es un buen juego, si te gustan suficientes cosas de él y estás dispuesto a tolerar sus defectos. No commentary playthrough of the release version of Graven. Normal skill level, presented in 4K/Max details. Graven finally arrived. A throwback to the likes of Heretic/Hexen where you will explore, complete quests, solve puzzles and hack & slash. You an exiled priest for a crime commited in defense of another to what is like the most curse piece of land in the world. Can you make a difference there? I'm playing in normal, because it seems that the devs took very seriously the feedback regarding the non existant difficulty in the game, now the enemies hit like trucks in normal skill level... 3 hits and you're down to 10 health easily. Also no 100% secrets because they removed the secret % counter, it was previously a global %, which is ass, and I request a per-zone one, but they seem to have removed it completely :/ Graven is mostly a mixed bag, I'm enjoying the game despite its shorcomings (it needs a bit more of polish) but it's not rocking my world either. It is a lot harder than it was during Early Access, enemies are as brain dead as before, but now hit hard. This kind of changes later, when more aggressive enemies are introduced and you're not only meant to kill them, but crowd control them if you want to succeed. And you will have to learn the hard way, Graven doesn't hold your hand at all, you're expected to explore, die, read your journal, and experiment with all the tools at your disposal... and shame on the inventory/action bar here, making it more cumbersome, you have tons of weapons but only can carry ~3 of them at a time. That being said, the level design is very good, good in a way that the levels themselves will end up guiding you towards your main objective most of the time, you are on your own for the sidequests though. If you enjoyed the early access, go ahead, you won't regret it! If you are not sure, check on what your reviewer soulmates have to say before buying or just wait for a discount. ------ Playthrough sin comentar de la versión final de Graven. Dificultad normal, mostrado en 4K y detalles máximos. Graven ha llegado finalmente. Una reversión a lo Heretic/Hexen donde explorarás, completarás gestas, resolverás puzles y también atizarás cosas. Eres un sacerdote exiliado por un crimen cometido en defensa de otra persona a lo que parece que es el territorio más maldito del mundo. ¿Podrás marcar la diferencia allí? Estoy jugando en normal porque parece que los desarrolladores se tomaron muy en serio la retroalimentación que señalaba que la dificultad era inexistente, ahora los enemigos pegan como camiones en normal... 3 golpes y estás a 10 de vida fácilmente. Además, no haré 100% secretos porque han quitado el contador, antes era un % global lo cual apesta, y pedí uno por zonas, pero parece que lo han quitado completamente. Graven es una de cal y otra de arena, estoy disfrutando del juego a pesar de sus taras (necesita pulirse algo más) pero tampoco me está cambiando la vida. Es más difícil que durante el acceso anticipado, los enemigos son igual de tontos que antes, pero ahora pegan mucho más fuerte. Estoy cambia un poco más tarde, cuando enemigos más agresivos son introducidos y además de matarlos, necesitarás hacer control de masas si quieres triunfar. Tendrás que aprender por las malas, Graven no te lleva de la manita a los sitios, tendrás que explorar, morir, leer el diario, y experimentar con todas las herramientas a tu disposición... y aquí paro para quejarme del sistma de inventario/barra de acciones, ya que hace de esto más tedioso, tienes muchísimas armas pero solamente puedes usar 3 al mismo tiempo. Además de lo dicho, el diseño de los niveles es muy bueno, bueno en el sentido de que los propios niveles te irán guiando hasta tus objetivos principales muchas veces sin que te des cuenta siquiera, para los objetivos secundarios estás tú sólo no obstante.
