Sharia compliant “disaster porn”? No Islamic landmarks harmed in “Independence Day” sequel
David Menzies reports, one of the big budget films debuting down at the multiplex for summer movie blockbuster season is “Independence Day: Resurgence”, the sequel to the original released 20 years ago. The movie is typical of a new film genre known as “disaster porn” with a formula that includes invaders, cyborgs or Mother Nature destroying cities and iconic architecture the world over but David notes, landmarks from the Middle East that are related to a certain "religion of peace", are spared.
