This was a mash up of colors! I used some left over paints I had and wanted to use them before they dried up! I loved how this turned out. I’ve don’t a lot of swipes – but the wreck and spin gives it a whole new take.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did making it!

This was such a fun project! Karley chose colors of her room - aqua, pink, white and purple. Lisa chose patriotic colors of red, white and blue. Karley was so excited to get to do a pour as she has been watching Designed By Kathy videos! We used DecoArt Pouring Medium. I was super impressed with the flowing ability of it - in fact, I used a bit much - but all came out well in the end!
Happy pouring and thanks for watching!

Ended up being a cool pour! Looks like a waterfall to me! I used black, grey, some metallic gold and white. One of the fun things to remember about fluid art -- is there are no concrete rules! The pour may not turn out exactly like you have in your mind - but often it turns out to still be something cool! Then, the most important thing to remember - is your last pour - does not have to be your last pour! Pour over it if you hate it! Make it something you love! But, the most important thing -- is have fun!!
Happy pouring,
Kathy

Fall Garden in an #acrylicpouring you say? Well - wow at the possibilities! As the painting continued it just took on a life of it's own!

The colors I used for the pouring – black, yellow ochre, tan, turquoise and brown. To swipe the wings, I used a simple hair teasing avocado green, crimson red, yellow and black - along with some cheap chain I had laying around. My paints were all mixed with Floetrol to the same consistency. In the swipe portion, I put about four drops of silicone in the green.

I was so happy with how this turned out! The colors I used were cobalt blue, metallic worn penny, magenta, woody smoke and black. Once I drizzled the colors on both halves of the canvas, I poured the black in the center and swiped with a damp paper tower. I made small swipes throughout just to go for some different definition. Then the spin! Wowzer! I have not doubt I will be experimenting with this some more. Each of my colors were mixed one part paint to two parts Floetrol, and the black did have a few drops of silicone. The spinning part was my favorite! Take some frustration out! But look out – because it is messy!
Thank you all for watching and supporting my Designed By Kathy channel – which is simply done by you watching, commenting and giving me a thumbs up!

Puddle pour using acrylic paint and water. This was my first time to use water as an additive rather than a pouring medium. I used black, a blue-green, metallic rose gold and black. I did love the color combination. I was overall happy with this painting, but for my next video I want to use the same color combinations and use the pouring medium - if for nothing else but to satisfy my own curiosity!

A simple technique with huge results! A black background and I used cobalt blue, metallic silver and a little white to swipe. I was very pleased with how this painting turned out! I hope you will give it a go and let me hear how it goes.
Happy Pouring,
Kathy

Ok, so I know it has been like – forever – that I introduced doing a bloom. Well, let me tell ya’ll – one – it is a hard technique to do – two – there are a million “recipes” out there and what works for one – does not necessarily work for the next person. What I am showing you today is from Tammy Anderson’s cell activator (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNGvN8x14FS1fyYIiWsAbMA) and I also want to mention my friend Nancy Pitri (https://www.instagram.com/nancypitre.art/). She does NOT use ANY house paint in her pours!nI hope you will stop by and tell these incredible artist – and awesome people hello!
• Ok – so here is how it went down! The “pillow paint” – I used the WalMart Color Place white satin – 15oz with 1oz of VividArt Fluid (ok, or water --- but this stuff is made to work with acrylic paint!)
• The “medium” – I used the HGTV Sherwin Williams Satin – Base C. Three tablespoon of that – plus one tablespoon of Minwax Polycrylic (can definitely use the Jo Sonja varnish).
• The CELL ACTIVATOR (yes, thank you Tammy Anderson) – Floetrol 2TBS, Glue All 1TBS, Pre Stain Minwax 1/2tsp.
Now - ya’ll – all this WILL WORK! I have had some issues with drying. I’ll talk about those in the next video. Now, when I say it will work ---- again, I stand behind the real fact that what works for some --- will not work for others! Be ready to pour and pour again --- but I still say – If I can do it ---- YOU can do it!
Please share your painting on my NEW FACEBOOK GROUP!!
I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did making it!

Welcome to TUESDAY TIPS!! I know there is so much information out there – and it can be overwhelming. Today I am addressing how to mix your paint with Floetrol. This is a recipe for many pours – but not all! This has been my go-to ratio/recipe for many of my pours and it has worked time and time again. As with most things – there are exceptions to every rule!
I always – generally use a 1 part paint to two parts Floetrol. This would be for dirty pours, ring pours, bottle bottom pours and strainer/colander pours. For pours such as dutch pours and swipes, often there needs to be different ratios.
For the craft acrylics I used in this video, I used 1 ounce of paint to 2 ounces of Floetrol. This worked perfectly, until I opened the bottle that has apparently been sitting for a while! Please see the video of what I had to do in order to get the same consistency as the others. For the tube paint, I used ½ ounce of paint and 2 ½ ounces of Floetrol. These do not have to be and exact science – just make sure each of your colors have the same “flowing” consistency.
I hope you enjoyed this tip as much as I did! I was so happy to find it and share it with you guys.
