Banteay Kdei ប្រាសាទបន្ទាយក្តី (Prasat Banteay Kdei), meaning "A Citadel of Chambers", also known as "Citadel of Monks' cells", is a Buddhist temple in Angkor, Cambodia. It is located southeast of Ta Prohm and east of Angkor Thom.
Built in the mid-12th to early 13th centuries AD during the reign of Jayavarman VII it is in the Bayon architectural style, similar in plan to Ta Prohm and Preah Khan, but less complex and smaller. Its structures are contained within two successive enclosure walls, and consist of two concentric galleries from which emerge towers, preceded to the east by a cloister.
This Buddhist monastic complex is currently dilapidated due to faulty construction and poor quality of sandstone used in its buildings, and is now undergoing renovation. Banteay Kdei had been occupied by monks at various intervals over the centuries until the 1960s.
The reasons for building this temple at its present site is not known. However, it is established that the temple is a contemporary of the Angkor Wat as many similarities have been identified between the two, and also with Phimai temple in Thailand. It is reported to be the first temple built by Jayavarman VII in 1181 AD, opposite to the Srah Srang reservoir.
This is another great temple to visit. The condition of the stones has caused it to fall into serious disrepair but that shouldn’t stop anyone from visiting this temple. The stone carvings are very nice and it’s set in a great environment next to the srah srang lake.

One of the most popular floating market in Thailand, Damnoen Saduak, is a great day trip from Bangkok. It’s located about 100 kilometers from Bangkok to the west. It’s the first floating market that the Thai government built up to service the tourist industry in order to benefit the local community.
Damnoen Saduak is the market that you’ll see in the pictures of all the travel agencies, and the only one where there are still dozens and dozens of boats selling different products, which nowadays are mostly tourist souvenirs, although some still sell fruit and even freshly cooked food.
On the banks surrounding the canals you will see many shops, cafes and small restaurants for visitors.
It is very touristy, but it is a fun visit for a couple of hours. Visitors can take a boat to sail along its canals and get an idea of what these markets were like in the past.
Quite a few films have been filmed in this floating market, such as ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’ of the James Bond saga, or Nicolas Cage’s ‘Bangkok Dangerous’.
The original market area is located on the opposite side of the canal with a museum.

Wat Noi Nok in Nonthaburi
A beautiful Ayutthaya style ordination hall built by King Taksin and his men to celebrate surviving their escape from Ayutthaya during the second war with Burma. The story goes back to the harrowing escape of Taksin and his men during the last days before the fall of the old capital to the invading Burmese. The men hid under a bodi tree to confuse the enemy soldiers. Their plan worked and they promised that if they survived they would build a temple on this site. The temple still stands today and it is very well preserved and a hidden gem nestled among condo towers near the Chao Phraya river in Nonthaburi.

SAMET NANGCHI VIEWPOINT IN PHANG NGA
Considered one of the most beautiful places in Phang Nga, Thailand. Samet Nangchi Viewpoint offers stunning 180-degree views overlooking Phang Nga Bay and its hundreds of fantastic, limestone formations and small islands. Visitors reach the Viewpoint after a 10 minute ride up a dirt road. The view is so vast that one photo will not do it justice.
Photographers from around the world spend days in order to get the perfect photo of the spectacular sunrises seen from Samet Nangshe Viewpoint, which faces due east. Even at night, the views are amazing and as there is no light pollution, the Milky Way and many constellations are brilliant.
The view includes about two kilometres of mangrove forest and a chain of islands that stretches as far as the eye can see in both directions. The Samet Nangshi Viewpoint was discovered by Theerasak Saksritawee, a professional photographer whose photos from the hilltop were seen by expatriate Thais and locals. While there may be a small group of visitors at the top, the Viewpoint is still relatively unknown by overseas visitors.
Phang Nga Bay achieved world fame in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun. James Bond Island is a limestone stack that was formed by nature. It has a wide top and narrow base that has been photographed so many times that it is a symbol of Phuket.
Phang Nga province is quieter than Phuket and more rural with untouched fishing villages and secluded beaches. The limestone islands that are so spectacular from Samet Nangshe Viewpoint are riddled with caves.
I also show you Ban Khlong Khan Pier where some of the tours start from. The price list is included. This is not the only pier where you can book tours of these islands, just more of a local area that is closer by boat. Most of the tours start in either Krabi or Phuket since the majority of tourists are in these two areas.
The area of Phang Nga is amazing and pretty much any activity you do will be a memory you will treasure for your lifetime. The view is defiantly one of those.

Wat Thammikarat is one of the lesser visited ruins in the ancient Siam capital of Ayutthaya, Thailand. It is believed that it actually predates the city of Ayutthaya, with parts of it possibly dating back to the 12 century.
Today it is actually a working temple, and several newer buildings have been built around the ruins.
The main ruins to explore at Wat Thammikarat is a chedi that is surrounded by a large number of lion statues, and the large viharn that still has most of it’s walls and several of it’s large columns still standing.
Another lovely feature is a tree that is growing out of one of the walls of the viharn.
Although Wat Thammikarat isn’t as grand as some of the larger, more popular ruins in Ayutthaya, it is definitely still worth checking out. Enjoy the video!

Wat San Chao Floating Market is a small floating market north of Bangkok next to the Chaophraya River in Pathum Thani. It’s not a floating market with lots of small boats that you envision but more of a riverside market.
Floating markets in Thailand are very traditional. In the past the dense jungle made travel by land very difficult so people would use the many rivers and canals to transport their goods. Along the waterways markets would develop for people to exchange their goods. The markets would be built on the land and serve as a meeting point. So most of the floating markets are more of riverside markets instead. Wat San Chao is this type of floating market.
What it lacks in boats it makes up for in food. It features the normal Thai food as well as regional favorites. In addition to the shopping there is a Mon style temple and 2 small Chinese temples in the market area for the local Thais to make merit while here.
It’s located about an hour north of Bangkok and not on the normal tourist list of things to do. When you visit expect to only see the local Thais and visitors form Bangkok that are doing a day trip out of the city.

Taipei Confucius Temple 台北孔廟
While Guanyu is the god of war, Confucius (孔夫子) is considered the god of literature and wisdom. As confusing as his name sounds, Confucius is not exactly a “god.” It’s better to describe him as a great philosopher. However, since Confucianism deeply influences the Chinese-speaking world, it does feel like a religion in some ways. Sometimes people come here to wish for a good grades.
The standard structure of a Confucius temple includes a wall and a stage. The tall wall is a symbol of Confucius’s invincible wisdom. The stage is where students dance to celebrate Confucius’s birthday.
To get here take the MRT Red Line to Yuanshan Station then take exit no.2
The temple is plain compared to normal Chinese temples but that doesn’ make it any less interesting. The styling and history of this temple makes it well worth a visit.

Buddhism is intertwined with the culture of Thailand, an important part of daily life. The last official count said there were more than 40,000 Buddhist temples in Thailand, with hundreds of those in Bangkok alone. So of course you’re not going to want (or have time) to see all of them.
With so many temples they have been organized into a ranking system with the special class at the top. The only special class temple is Wat Phra Kaew. This houses the emerald Buddha and is on the grounds of The Grand Palace.
The next level of temples is first class royal temples. There are 24 of them in Thailand with 10 being inside of Bangkok. These are all special temples, many containing relics of the Buddha or other sacred objects.
This video covers all 24 of them so you are able to see the different styles and learn a bit more about each of them. The quest to visit all of these took almost 2 years due to the distances involved. Each temple has something unique about them and all all amazing places to see.
