Three teens from St. Petersburg (Florida, not Russia) couldn’t resist a spot of joyriding after spotting an unlocked Maserati with the keys in the ignition. The downside of their plan was not really knowing how to drive. As they sped off (without headlights on), the police gave chase and tried to pull over the vehicle at 3:20am, but backed off to avoid a high-speed pursuit in a residential area when driver Keondrick Lang floored it. A few blocks later, reality ensued, as the 15-year-old, pushing the sports car to 123mph, lost control and hit the curb so hard the car became airborne and yeeted itself into a sign, leaving almost nothing of the sign, the car, or the three occupants in one piece. The incident was captured by a police helicopter giving chase. Front-seat passenger Mario Bonilla, 15, was killed in the crash, while backseat passenger Malachi Daniels, 16, is in a critical condition, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff. A cab driver from Northern Ireland has been arrested after pulling a gun on a passenger and threatening to blow his kneecaps off, and then pistol-whipping him. The 48-year-old taxi driver has since been arrested, for possession of, and intimidation with, a firearm. It has not been confirmed if the gun was real or fake, nor the reason behind the incident, although rumors circulating online indicate it was over a drug-related debt. The whole incident was captured on dashcam, which somehow ended up being posted online, to the incredulity of all. The driver’s employers, Fonacab, released a statement saying that the driver had been fired before the footage was leaked online.
