The ViFly ShortSaver - this could stop your new build going up in (magic) smoke! Supplied by ViFly
I've never used a smoke stopper before, despite managing to blow up multiple new builds and components. But ViFly seems to be offering a new and more convenient way of avoiding the magic smoke.... so let's check it out in more detail.
An epic 1 year in the making (ok, not epic.. it's sat in a cupboard for months) but I was interested to see after my dismal 1st attempts at getting the FX-789 Buffalo wing flying to see if I could make the box it came in fly better.
As the servos broke instantly on the first attempt, I needed to wait until I had some from other broken projects to keep in the spirit of using leftover/broken bits from other planes.
I do think if you really cared you could make a pretty reasonable plane with cardboard, just don't get it wet !

Welcome to the 2nd of my tutorials on the beginner's guide to Acro flying. In this episode, we look at the forward and backward flip.
I mentioned a few pre-requisites in the first video here https://youtu.be/U8BiRGNf1og but if you want to take a look at some of my other videos where I talk about how to set up my gentle rates for acro flying, and air mode (air mode is needed for all these tutorials) then check out this playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7WaECFssECJITJMCyVrwp4WezSHTWbmN
If you are new to Betaflight and are not sure how to configure your quad, then please check out my Betaflight Basics playlist here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7WaECFssECL3NKb3v6vrk58nxCFFiWs9

Today, we check out the FrSky Taranis X-Lite. A game controller like radio, with the power of FrSky and OpenTX behind it.
This radio was supplied for review by Gearbest, so here's their (affiliate) link to the product page https://www.gearbest.com/radios-receiver/pp_1628434.html?wid=1433363&lkid=15600342

It's a very simple tip this one, but it's surprisingly effective. Fly forwards, don't try and hover - if you aren't moving in a forwards direction, you really can't see enough things in relation to properly hold you position and are more likely to get in trouble.
Sing it: "Just keep flying (forwards)"

Had a small meetup over the weekend. Always fun to fly with iPeel (Neil) as some sort of mid-air is always going to happen (it did) and it means I can continue our pretend feud and post a video of him crashing into a field :D
Although this would be low for a 2.4Ghz rx, he's on 1.3 video and a 433 radio - and has done this course lots of times without a problem. He had made some firmware changes to the rx's and was had a few issues previously.
No damage done (to this plane at least)

This SmartPhone has the biggest battery I've ever seen. We previously looked at the WP27 which had a pretty big 8,500mAh battery, well this fatty has a whopping 22,000mAh battery. You can actually use it as a power bank. So let's take a closer look!
You'll find at times in this review I talk about it being very similar to the WP27, you can check out that review here https://youtu.be/oQLa0ThiLBM
This phone was kindly supplied by Oukitel for review, so if you'd like to check it out in more detail please consider using this affiliate link: https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=2092653&u=1643107&m=128178&urllink=oukitel%2Ecom%2Fproducts%2Foukitel%2Dwp27&afftrack=
Oukitel also asked that I add this link to the product: https://bit.ly/3teFZ0k

"Can't fly, raining" is something I might well be saying until next summer :( However, a strange addiction to rambling on in front of my webcam has got me, so I still expect to be uploading videos about something or other.
This week, I'm liking the new function of my charger to measure Internal Resistance, but sadly it's not in any manual I can find, so I'm sort of having to find out as I go. This is why I mention that if you know more, then please tell me.
I'm using Facebook in between videos as well now, so come and say hello if you like over here https://www.facebook.com/currykitten

This is a bit of a follow up video to a previous video on setting up S.Port telemetry on an R9. This isn't R9 specific though, so it should work for any S.Port capable receiver.

I went out to my field with Richard to do some Tricopter flying (which went great) but decided to try the El Cheapo quad, as I'd just replaced the bearings in the motors and replaced the 10" props with 9", and it seemed smoother.
I shouldn't have really flown after the WDR600 wasn't powering up, but I decided I needed to try it and so quickly rigged up the 808 #16 as a flight cam, at a bit of a strange angle. The brief bit of flying I did, it was actually ok, lovely response into the roll... but then the prop had it's own ideas.
I went back to the field this morning with my daughter, and she managed to find the prop that flew off complete with the collet.
Many thanks to Richard for the filming he did, his channel is here : http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDn6S7Xu02_z2EZhNt1fDMQ
