Philadelphia City Hall, Philadelphia.
With a height of 548ft, it took nearly 30 years to build and became the Tallest Building in the World in 1901.

Singer Building, NYC.
With a height of 612ft, the Singer tower was built off the original singer building and took two years to build, it became the tallest in the world in 1908.

Metlife Tower, NYC.
with a height of 700ft, it took 4 years to build and broke the world record for the tallest building in 1909.

Woolworth Building, NYC.
with a height of 792ft, it took a little over 2 years to build and became the record holder in 1913.

40 Wall Street, NYC.
with a height of 927ft, it took just one year to build and was the record holder in 1930.

Chrysler Building, NYC.
with a height of 1046ft, it was competing with 40 Wall street for "The tallest building in the world" and took the record just a month after 40 Wall street in 1930

Empire State Building, NYC.
with a height of 1250ft not including the spire, it took just 1 year to build and became the record holder 1931, a title it held for 39 years!

with a height of 1368ft, it took 5 years to complete and became the record holder in 1971

Sears Tower, Chicago.
with a height of 1451ft, it took 3 years to build and snatched up the world record in 1973

Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur.
with a height of 1483ft, they took 6 years to complete and earned the world record in 1998

Taipei 101, Taipei.
with a height of 1667ft, it took 5 years to build it and it broke the record in 2004

Burj Khalifa, Dubai.
with a height of 2717ft, it took 6 years to build and earned the world record in 2010

Jeddah Tower Jeddah
with a height of 3307ft, it was planned to be finished in 2017 but the global economic crisis stalled construction until 2017. construction was stalled once again in 2018 and the tower is only about one-third complete. if construction starts again in 2021 it will break the world record by 2023.

Dubai Creek Tower Dubai
with a height of 4413ft, completion was planned for 2020 but due to the global pandemic, construction has been postponed, however, the owners insist that it will be completed in 2022. If this were the case, Jeddah Tower will never get to be the world record holder.
