With a chorus of farewells, each touched their torch to the ship, setting the vessel ablaze in a funeral pyre that mirrored the fiery spirit of the chieftain. The flames, a beacon in the darkness, climbed high into the night, casting a warm glow that touched the faces of the onlookers and the surrounding peaks. The fire, in its ferocity, was a final testament to Eirik's life—a life of battles fought, storms weathered, and a legacy that would burn eternal in the hearts of his people. As the ship, now fully engulfed, was carried away by the currents, it seemed like the fjord bore Eirik on his journey to Valhalla, where he would feast and fight alongside the gods.
