Is the watch market imploding...luxury watches that are going over retail plummeting in price? There definitely seems to be some evidence right now that certain models are heading in that direction!
--------------------------
On this video, we're gonna be going over the current state of the watch market, being that it's the Summer of 2019.
So right now it's official, I feel like all these watches that were really high in the market have officially peaked and are starting to go down.
Has the bubble blown up? I don't think so, but I think it's definitely deflating a little bit.
We just saw prices on Pateks 5980s and the 5711s drop ten to twenty thousand dollars in the process of two weeks. I knew that was coming.
The prices were just too high and they were unsustainable. Pretty much how was something worth something if no one's buying it? In reality, I didn't see a single private pay the premium of $180,000 or $200,000 for a 5980 rose.
So pretty much it was just dealers asking that price. So it's official, prices are starting to simmer down and in the summer is when prices go down the most.
We're gonna have to wait and see what happens.
So what is the problem with the market right now? Well, I feel like there's been an over-saturation of dealers buying these watches a little bit too expensive and holding them and asking too much of a premium out of speculation that the consumers are gonna buy it.
I can't tell you how many times I quoted a guy for a 5980 $150,000 knowing I couldn't even buy one and not one person asked me what was the condition, what were the years of the papers, was it new or unworn. Nobody even asked me if I had it in stock. Everybody just ran.
So we'll have to see what happens. I mean, I think that 140 even up to 150 is sustainable on a 5980, but I feel like the market has changed.
Maybe Asia is not buying as much or maybe people just are not willing to pay that much for the watches. Another good example is Rolex.
In my previous video, I was stating how the Batman was as high as $22,0000. That's just stupid.
For $22,000 you could probably buy a much more attractive watch than a Batman on a jubilee.
The crazy part is is that now Rolex is shipping them to all the ADs. So now we got these fly-by-night watch dealers which are really just privates putting them on a credit card and floating it for a month seeing if maybe us dealers buy them. I just don't see the end consumer paying the high premiums for that Batman, so those are also going down a little bit.
It's a very turmoil moment right now in the Summer of 2019 for these over-inflated watches. One thing that I wanna mention is that not every single watch is being affected by this right now.
For example, the Yacht-Master in yellow gold has been a little bit difficult t

The Rolex Sea-Dweller 4000 could become the next sleeping giant in the world of Rolex watches. Read on...
-------------------
What's up people? This is Eric Rivera here and I wanna talk to you about what I think right now could possibly be the biggest sleeper Rolex at the moment...and that is, the Sea-Dweller 4000.
So this is a special watch man. I mean, in the past before this ceramic era, they had the Sea-Dweller, the standard Sea-Dweller. This is the before the introduction of the Deepsea and all that.
What happens is they came out with the new ceramic version of this watch dubbed the “Sea-Dweller 4000.” That's what we all call it because of the 4000 feet rating.
The thing is is they didn't make a lot of them and you don't see a lot of them, but I feel like it kind of got swept under the rug the second that the Deepsea got released.
I mean, I myself just totally overlooked it for years. I mean, I knew it was out, but I wasn't really that hot into it. That was in the era when watches started to get a little bit super sized and it went to the Deepsea.
So the Deepsea came out, “Oh my God! It's a Submariner on steroids!” And whatever, I ended up trading my Kermit for it. Worst decision of my life. Still to this day it pisses me off, but whatever. I ended up buying that watch, realizing it's too big, but the thing is is I feel like since that watch came out and it made so much noise and it was just so different, I feel like the Sea-Dweller 4000 kind of just stayed behind. They stayed at the ADs, nobody really bought them, very slow moving piece even at that moment.
For the most part in general, you always sell about six or seven maybe even ten Submariners in the amount of time that you sell one of these watch, both in this version and the previous version.
The thing is is that now in recent times there's been a lot of increase in prices, all the sports models have been shooting up, but this is one of those ones that's been sleepy quiet there and no one's talked about. I've noticed that the prices right now are clearly at $11,000. This is a watch that was $7,000, maybe three or four years ago.
So it leaves me to think, is this the next sleeper watch from Rolex that's slowly sitting there behind? I mean, they didn't make it for too many years and they discontinued it and then of course, it's been overshadowed by the Sea-Dweller, then the Deep Blue Sea Sea-Dweller, and then now the release of the Anniversary Red Sea-Dweller.
This one's kind of falling behind in the back seat, but I just finally was able to get one in my hands because man I have not seen one in quite some time.
What originally sparked my interest was that out of nowhere, a friend of mine was trying to buy one and I looked on eBay and I noticed, man they're getting kind

The watch market has been on fire for quite some time, but no market goes up in a straight line. Corrections or drops are inevitable. We're going through one in luxury watches as we speak!
Welcome to episode 55 of CRM Life! Despite the slowdown in the high end watch market, we are still selling watches. In this episode, we even sold a “heavy hitter,” a $400,000 Patek Philippe Celestial. It seems that the closer that Carlos gets to these exclusive pieces, the quicker his relationship with them comes to an abrupt halt (remember Episode 39? LOL). Despite the fact that Mr. CRM had to say goodbye too quick to this work of art from the Patek Philippe brand, we have a family business to run and are blessed for being able to find a new home for this exclusive heavy hitter!
The global hyperinflation we've seen during 2020-2022 has pushed many commodities, asset classes, and markets (including luxury watches) to record heights. We've discussed at length the difficulty in knowing how high prices would go in our industry (and others), since the expansion of the money supply during this period is something we have never seen before. What do we compare this to? Nevertheless, there are a group of watch collectors who have missed the boat and regret it. This is the group that has been calling for a crash in luxury watches for years, never ceasing to blame grey market dealers for the run up in watch prices. Despite the fact that many of these people are now salivating on the sidelines, their greed and frustration might cause them to miss the boat again! Time will tell. It's interesting to see the exact path that watch prices take.
Let us know what you guys think of the state of the luxury watch market. What path do you think it'll take during the next 12 months to 5 years? Leave us a comment below.
Also, let us know what topics you would like to see in future episodes of our little CRM Life reality series. Stay blessed!

Some wristwatch trends are crazy, including this one in 2019...green is the new blue. Does the color of the dial have this much of an impact on the price of a luxury watch?!
-----------------------
So on this video we're gonna be discussing the latest trends in the watch market and in my opinion, personally after years of blue reigning supreme on the special editions and all the hard-to-get watches, green is the new blue.
[opening music]
So it's been quite some time now where every single watch in the watch market that has a blue dial brings a premium. For example, the two-tone Sub or even the all-gold Sub usually has more of a premium with the blue dial. Let's not even talk about the stainless steel Royal Oak whether it's the self-winding or the Chrono. When you add the blue dial into the equation, I mean we're talking 5 grand more.
So for sure it's been quite some time that blue is the hottest color in the watch market.
But it seems to be that nowadays green is taking over that.
I mean, have a look at the Daytona. I just did a video on recently, how that green dial has made such a big difference in the watch. It's unbelievable.
We're talking fifteen to twenty thousand dollars premium. How about that AP Perpetual Calendar in stainless steel with the green dial? Untouchable! Not to mention the chrono version steel AP, with the green dial. So honestly, I feel that it's safe to say right now in 2019 here in this hot ass summer, green is the new blue.
How about that Day-Date rose gold with that olive, green dial? It's a banger with that green dial. Anything anniversary now has green to go along with it.
How about the Hulk? I remember there was time where I couldn't even sell the Hulk. Guys' wives would sit there and look at it and they just plain go, “I don't like the green!” Or guys would tell me, “I don't like the green. It doesn't match with anything.” It's safe to say, that green reigning supreme right now.
These green dials they're gonna cost you a premium. For example, the AP Perpetual Calendar in stainless steel with the blue dial, again hot watch, blue dial, is gonna run you $60.000. Throw a green dial into the equation, you're talking 170. I mean the prices are crazy.
The proof is there in the price. Green is the hottest color right now.
Let me give you another example, Daytona yellow gold. A nice looking watch. It's gonna run you anywhere from 25 to 30 g's. The second you drop that green dial, 50. I mean, obviously they're being limited made, it's not like there's a lot of them. Same thing with the Hulk. They didn't make as many Hulks as they did the standard Sub.
But green is here to stay and I'm not gonna lie. I like green. In the past for example, the GMT remember with the green dial, the yellow gold one, a lot of peop

Coronavirus has infected Baselworld, the most famous and prestigious watch show held in Switzerland every year. So is this the end? Good question...
------------
So thank you for tuning in. My name is Eric Rivera and if you're watching this, it's too late. Coronavirus is everywhere!
So thank you for tuning in. My name is Eric Rivera and if you're watching this, it's already too late. Baselworld 2020 has been canceled. I mean, I was shocked myself. I should have seen it coming already, especially when I overheard shatter that the Olympics might be canceled. I mean, if the Olympics are gonna be canceled, why wouldn't everything else be?
Yes, it's a shock for me too. We were really hoping to see what's gonna happen this year with the releases and based on the fact that the show has been getting weaker year by year, you know there's a lot of shatter going around that pretty much if it wasn't for Rolex, Patek or anybody else that's really carrying the major weight for the show, the show wouldn't even be going on or wouldn't be worth the production.
Look, I don't know. For me it's a bit of a shock. We're gonna have to see what's going on with this whole Coronavirus thing. In a way I guess it's not to be played with, but it's a little bit of a disappointment, you know? I don't know what they're gonna do with this now. They're talking about that they're gonna delay the show. I mean, look, I'm not the smartest person in the world, but if you're gonna delay the show to January 2021, just cancel the whole damn show. We'll just do a new one next year. That's what I'm thinking at least.
If this goes through, which obviously it is, we're gonna have to wait till next year to finally see what's gonna happen with the watches that these brands come out. My guess is obviously they're just gonna leak them on Instagram, which is what they've been doing already. You're gonna see the watch all of the sudden on Instagram. “Oh my God!” Heads exploding! You go on to their website...Bamm! Introducing the new models! So pretty much the differences here is that the instead of a hundred and one vloggers showing all the watches up close and molesting them in person, we're gonna have to pretty much see the new releases through Instagram.
So I guess the title for the video that I did for next week, which was supposed to be my Patek predictions for Baselworld, should just be then, “Predictions for Patek 2020,” because clearly there's no longer gonna be a Baselworld in 2020.
So what does this Coronavirus thing mean for the watch market. I mean, it pretty much it's bad for everything. Stocks are as low as they've been since the 2008 recession. You know, I had a couple people call me and say, “Hey bro, what do you think this is gonna do to the whole watch market?” I'm
