Here is some video of the action pistol competitions we hold each month. You will note we try to combine shooting and moving and allowing people to shoot more than 2 rounds on a target. We also try to do some drills with a revolver and some basic marksmanship drills. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhNDSQIZqno

I'm impressed with these two single stacked designs from Smith and Wesson. The guns are designed to facilitate easy slide manipulation, takedown (field stripping) and loading. They're a good option for those folks who may not have the physical dexterity or strength to manipulate the slide on a standard semi-auto pistol.

We shoot the Ruger LCR in 9mm. This is a slick little revolver in a very popular caliber. Trigger is exceptional and felt recoil seemed to be on par with the a .38 special. With the moon clips loading was smooth and efficient.

My good friend Paul Z., sent me this drill. You can download t it at, https://docs.usacarry.com/col-ben-concealed-carry-drill.pdf
I found this to be a fun, low round count drill that combines many important skills. This drill gives focus to trigger management, sights, and accuracy. Combining that with a very generous PAR time helps new students train and test their proficiency.
The drill is shot from 3 yards on five circle targets sporting. The goal is to shoot 3 rounds in each of the five targets in 20 seconds with a minimum of 80 percent accuracy.
I shot the drill cold from an OWB holster and my M&P 5" range gun. Scoring a perfect score in under 12 seconds. (I know many of you can shoot this far faster than I did).
For a more realistic test, I shot the same drill with my carry gun (G48) from concealment in 14 seconds.
For more fun, I shot the drill at 5 and 7 yards as well as 7 yards with my M&P 15-22 braced pistol. I then modified the drill with an EZ2C targets trying to keep all the shots in four 1" targets and one 2 inch target. The first time through that variation I struggled big time...with only 4 of the 15 shots in the specified area. However on the 2nd string I redeemed myself with much better performance.
For folks with more advanced skills, I suggest 7 yard distance and a 12-15 second part time with no more than 2 shots outside of the Col Ben target.
Let me know what you think of the drill and what your best scores looked like.
Many thanks to Paul Z., in NH for sharing this drill with us. Stay safe!
