To maximize their hopes of personally experiencing an amount of personal freedom even approaching that of the libertarian ideal, all libertarians should support radical life extension.
On Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 1 p.m. U.S. Pacific Time, 4 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, the U.S. Transhumanist Party invites Klary E. Niezen-Koning and Liz Parrish to discuss epigenetics and gene therapy and the promise of future medical treatments that may be able to overcome complex diseases and aging itself.
Klary E. Niezen-Koning, PhD, is a biochemist, clinical laboratory geneticist, and Senior Researcher in Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen in The Netherlands. She is an expert on epigenetics, mitochondrial genetics, and the pathophysiology of metabolic diseases. You can find her list of research publications here: https://www.rug.nl/staff/k.e.niezen-koning/research
Elizabeth (Liz) Parrish, MBA, is the Founder and CEO of BioViva - https://bioviva-science.com/ - a company committed to extending healthy lifespans using cell technologies. Liz is a humanitarian, entrepreneur, innovator, podcaster, and a leading voice for genetic cures. As a strong proponent of progress and education for the advancement of regenerative medicine modalities, she serves as a motivational speaker to the public at large for the life sciences. She is actively involved in international educational media outreach. Liz Parrish is one of the world’s leading proponents for the development of gene therapies to treat a variety of diseases, including biological aging. Mr. Stolyarov briefly discusses two recent groundbreaking scientific findings and the philosophical implications and promises of these discoveries.
(1) The cause of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease) was discovered by Dr. Teepu Siddique, a neuroscientist with Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine, and researchers Han-Xiang Deng and Wenjie Chen.

(2) Using the computer game Foldit, the protein structure of a retroviral protease of the Mason-Pfizer monkey virus has been discovered. The Mason-Pfizer virus is an AIDS-like disease in monkeys.

As a follow-up to his recent video, "Reasons Not to Pursue a PhD" , Mr. Stolyarov offers some general guidance to recent graduates of high schools and colleges who might not have had the best grades and would therefore not be subject to extensive pressure to pursue a PhD. In many ways, these individuals have the same opportunities as academic high-achievers, if they develop themselves in useful ways and avoid common pitfalls.
General advice, expanded upon in the video, includes the following:
(1) Departure from orthodox paths is necessary, but not sufficient.
(2) Strive to avoid incurring additional debt for the purposes of building a career or business.
(3) Try to find a field where skills and any credentials can be pursued via self-study.
(4) Know what you personally value and pursue that.

Justin Bieber's remarks on S. 978, the Commercial Felony Streaming Act proposed by Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar are right on target, according to Mr. Stolyarov. Indeed, Bieber's view, that singing and streaming other people's songs - the activity that brought Bieber himself to fame - is innocuous and should be permitted, is a breath of fresh air among popular singers and musicians. Mr. Stolyarov thinks that Bieber should go further and oppose the erroneous and damaging notion of "intellectual property" altogether.

For a term coined by Joseph Stalin in 1929, "American exceptionalism" is surprisingly popular among certain elements of the American Right. The idea has certainly elicited ample agreement and praise from numerous politicians of the Republican Party of late. But the exceptionalist mindset often misses the very point of the attributes it considers exceptional. Mr. Stolyarov explains that what is exceptional is not America, but rather the universalizable Enlightenment ideals that led to America's prosperity.

Mr. Stolyarov explains why the structure of formal schooling does not teach the ways in which real achievements are attained. The worst obstacle to true, iterative learning is student debt that locks people into a particular path for most of their lives.
