***”Suede”*** are an English rock band formed in London in 1989. The band is composed of singer ***[Brett Anderson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Anderson)***, guitarist ***[Richard Oakes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Oakes_(guitarist))***, bass player ***[Mat Osman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mat_Osman)***, drummer ***[Simon Gilbert](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Gilbert_(musician))*** and keyboardist/rhythm guitarist ***[Neil Codling](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Codling)***.
Equally inspired by the glam crunch of **David Bowie** and the romantic bedsit pop of the **Smiths**, the band developed a sweeping, guitar-heavy sound that was darkly sensual, sexually ambiguous, melodic, and unabashedly ambitious.
Equally inspired by the glam crunch of **David Bowie** and the romantic bedsit pop of the **Smiths**, vocalist Brett Anderson and first guitarist Bernard Butler developed a sweeping, guitar-heavy sound that was darkly sensual, sexually ambiguous, melodic, and unabashedly ambitious.
***“Coming Up"*** is the bands third album, released on 2 September 1996 through **"[Nude Records](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nude_Records)" **. It was the band's first album since the departure of guitarist ***[Bernard Butler](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Butler)***, who was replaced by ***[Richard Oakes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Oakes_(guitarist))***. Also added to the band was keyboardist ***[Neil Codling](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Codling)***.
In an interview on the eve of the album's release, Anderson stated: "I wanted it to be a complete turnover from the last album, which was very dark and dank ... I wanted it to be communicative and understandable."
As opposed to the previous album which followed a stringent pattern of Butler composing music for Anderson's lyrics, **”Coming Up”** was a more collaborative project. Buller credits much of the album's success to ***[Dave Bascombe](https://www.discogs.com/artist/52459-David-Bascombe)***, who mixed the majority of the songs. Bascombe's input on ***"Trash"*** was crucial, as it was his idea to speed up the vocals.
So ***”Coming Up"”*** has none of the lush, melancholy, and paranoid overtones of ***”Dog Man Star”***. It's all about celebrating being young, going out, taking drugs, having sex, and living life.
This fizzy, fuzzy guitar riffs while the rhythm section lays back with dirty, sexy grooves doesn't break any new ground for the band - unless you count the newfound sense of optimism, but it's a remarkable consolidation and crystallization of Suede's talents and all the evidence anyone needs that Brett Anderson was always the guiding force behind the band.

Formed in 2007 by guitarist ***[Bernard Sumner](https://cutt.ly/Pnqingt)*** (Joy Division, New Order, Electronic), ***”Bad Lieutenant”*** - indeed named after ***Abel Ferrara's*** 1992 film starring ***Harvey Keitel*** - featured guitarist ***[Phil Cunningham](https://cutt.ly/GnqimS2)*** (Marion, New Order) and vocalist ***Jake Evans*** (Rambo & Leroy).
With ***”[New Order](https://cutt.ly/unqivKg)”*** officially split, Sumner's longtime musical partner ***[Stephen Morris](https://cutt.ly/6nqZh3e)***, along with Blur's ***[Alex James](https://cutt.ly/knqZzLd)***, aided ***”Bad Lieutenant”*** during the recording of their debut album, ***”Never Cry Another Tear”*** (***”Triple Echo”***, October 2009), which was preceded by the September single ***"Sink or Swim"***.
The album accentuates the melodic guitar pop and straightforward lyricism of ***”New Order's”*** work in the 2000s. Although Hook is missed, the low end sounds quite good indeed in the capable hands of Chapman and James.
As good as Hook's bass work was, its range was limited, and it's intriguing to hear a wider range of sounds here -- from sprightly Brit-pop on ***"[Summer Days on Holiday](https://cutt.ly/0nuzxpj)"*** to the towering work on ***"[Dynamo](https://cutt.ly/snuzky9)"*** that comes straight from the ***John Entwistle*** school.
Of course, new bands have lower expectations than established bands, and while virtually every listener will contrast ***”Never Cry Another Tear”*** with New Order's best work, it has the sweep and grandeur of the group's classic moments.
The band are now on an indefinite hiatus since ***Sumner*** and ***Cunningham's*** return to ***”New Order”***. ***Evans*** is currently working on new solo material and supported ***”New Order”*** on their tour in early 2012.
***”These Changes”*** is the eighth song on the band’s debut studio album ***"[Never Cry Another Tear](https://cutt.ly/3nevYNi)"*** released in 2009. under the ***"Original Signal Recordings"*** and ***"Universal Motown"***.

# ***Pavement Biography***
***Pavement*** is an American indie rock band that formed in *[Stockton, California](https://cutt.ly/kAcQ2T5)*, in 1989. For most of their career, the group consisted of ***[Stephen Malkmus](https://cutt.ly/wAcWVDV)*** (vocals and guitar), ***[Scott Kannberg](https://cutt.ly/NAcW1zU)*** (guitar and vocals), ***[Mark Ibold](https://cutt.ly/RAcW0al)*** (bass), ***[Steve West](https://cutt.ly/rAcW2Jk)*** (drums), and ***[Bob Nastanovich](https://cutt.ly/bAcW3NZ)*** (percussion and vocals).
With their fractured songs, unexpected blasts of feedback, laconic vocals, cryptic literate lyrics, and defiant low-fidelity, ***Pavement***, along with ***[Sebadoh](https://cutt.ly/bAcW7TL)***, were the leaders of the *lo-fi* movement that dominated the U.S. *indie rock* in the early '90s.
> The collection of all of ***Pavement's*** low-fidelity early singles and EPs, ***“Westing (By Musket and Sextant)”*** features considerably less melody than ***[“Slanted and Enchanted”](https://cutt.ly/LATP5yG)***.
