In this clip, Les from Pegasus Tests outlines the four basic guns every prepared citizen should own and be proficient with. Doc Larsen of One Shepherd also explains how a shotgun might fit into a small unit tactics role, especially for the team leader.
A series of recent events reminded me of the importance of actually checking your gear for fit, function, and purpose. It doesn't have to take long, and it pays dividends when you actually have to use your stuff for competition, personal defense, or worse. Unfortunately, many people just don't know where to start, so they begin and end with mounting pouches on their kit, snapping a few photos, and saying "Good enough!"

Let's talk long term. Too many people think that success is just a few weeks or months away, when that is far from the truth. In reality, success is a culmination of long term effort often years in the making. In this piece, I take a little known two day challenge and show you how I would break it down into a series of seasons and blocks that could be repeated over and over again, always driving closer and closer to success.

In this clip, my friend John Simpson discusses the importance of eye dominance in precision shooting and advice to people who might be cross-dominant. John is a sniper instructor, having served in US Army Special Forces, and author of The Foundations of Sniper Marksmanship.

The concept of a civilian militia gained a bad reputation between the 60's and 90's, but that doesn't mean there isn't a long proud heritage of militiamen throughout American History.

Too many people are looking for the easy out, as if finding the one perfect piece of gear, or just the right training technique, will take them to the next level of capability. But that's not true. Success and failure are lagging indicators of our choice to make deposits or take withdrawals from our internal investment account.

In this stream, I'm diving a bit deeper into the underlying philosophy of The Everyday Marksman. While American's don't have a monopoly on good marksmanship and military feats, our culture is rather unique in just how embedded firearms have been in it's forging.
We're at a strange point in our national history where even participating shooting culture is a political act, and that's a shame. Given our national story, I believe in a world where telling your friends and coworkers about a range session or competition shouldn't be any different than talking about attending a BJJ class.
In this stream, I'm also going to do something I've never actually done: explain the Everyday Marksman logo and how its elements tie in with our philosophy.
