* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Atlanta, Georgia — On August 9, 2024, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Atlanta Police officers responded to the Boulevard Food Mart located at 356 Boulevard NE in reference to a person being robbed. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that while he was inside of the store, he was approached by an unidentified black male who brandished a semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine and demanded the victim's car keys. The victim advised that the suspect then forcefully snatched the victim's car keys from his hand before fleeing from the location. Responding officers were able to obtain surveillance footage which captured the entire incident. A little more than a week later, on August 17th, 2024, at approximately 5:58 p.m., while an officer was on patrol at 356 Boulevard NE, he was flagged down at the store in reference to information on the robbery suspect. The reporting party stated to the officer that the suspect had been seen coming into the store earlier in the day and that he still may be in the area. After receiving that information, the officer then conducted a canvass in the vicinity of the store. While canvassing, the officer was able to locate a male who matched the description of the robbery suspect from the surveillance footage. Initially, the suspect attempted to walk away from the officer but the officer was able to detain the suspect without incident. The officer then attempted to transport the suspect back to the original incident location however, the suspect managed to maneuver out of his handcuffs and escaped from the patrol vehicle. Officers immediately initiated a search and were able to locate the suspect a short time later in the parking garage of a residential property. Upon seeing the officers approach, the suspect took flight and a foot chase ensued. The foot chase was brief though as a number of additional officers swarmed the area and finally apprehended the suspect. The robbery suspect was later identified as 27-year-old Jaquan Blakeney. Blakeney was charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Blakeney also had an outstanding warrant out of Calhoun County, GA. * (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Salt Lake City, Utah — On Tuesday April 2, 2024, at 2:24 a.m., SLC911 received a 911 call from an employee working at the Chevron gas station, located at 875 South State Street. The employee told the 911 call taker the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Cameron Ammon Cloward, had a knife and tried to stab him through a window. Based on the employee’s statements to SLC911, Cloward may have committed an aggravated robbery by using, or threatening to use, a dangerous weapon during the commission of a robbery or attempted robbery. When officers arrived, they found Cloward walking in the gas station’s parking lot. Officers could see Cloward holding a knife. Cloward started walking north from the gas station on the east sidewalk of State Street. Cloward turned around, faced officers, and began walking back into the gas station parking lot. Body-worn camera footage from one of the officers on scene captured him telling Cloward to stop walking toward the gas station. Body-worn camera footage shows Cloward holding his knife with the blade positioned under his chin. Officers gave repeated commands for Cloward to drop the knife, stop walking, and to get on the ground. Cloward refused the officers’ orders, and repeatedly said, “I don’t care.” An officer requested a “less lethal shotgun.” Officers began creating distance between them and Cloward as he continued to hold the knife. As this occurred, Cloward took steps toward the officers, while holding the knife, and while continuing to disregard their orders to stop. Four (4) SLCPD officers used deadly force. Officers placed Cloward into custody and conducted a medical assessment. Gold Cross and Salt Lake City Fire confirmed Cloward died on scene. The knife found at the scene matched the description provided by the store employee as a pocketknife. The blade of the knife was found extended. There were no other injuries reported.
