blameitonjorge - 7 Insanely Shitty Superhero Ripoffs
Ah, the lowly mockbuster. Just in case you’re unfamiliar with the term, mockbusters are ultra low-budget productions
crapped forth by studios of QUESTIONABLE integrity which take advantage of name recognition and consumers with poor attention to detail to sell thousands upon thousands of rentals of thinly-veiled ripoffs of currently popular franchises.(pause) Sorry. Had to take a breath. The most successful of these studios, Asylum, has been in business for almost two decades, and are responsible for such beloved favorites as The Da Vinci Treasure, Atlantic Rim and everyone’s favorite, Snakes on a Train. Yes, Asylum will be making an appearance or two here.

Despite relying solely on bargain-basement production values, crappy CGI, theft and deception, these studios remain in existence because, well, their business model is profitable what they do works. Asylum has never produced a film that failed to make back
twice its budget, and with over a dozen productions a year, they simply have no incentive to stop. On the positive side, these ripoff mills do employ hundreds of writers, cast and crew, all of WHOM need to work too- and, since even a broken clock is right twice a day, some of these films have been surprisingly entertaining.

Despite the notoriously tight control of character rights in the superhero world, even these films have not been exempt from becoming fodder for the endless onslaught of the mockbuster. Here are the most ridiculous, egregious, and/or awesome ones we could find.
