Xiaomi is currently crowdfunding their prototype augmented reality glasses.
The glasses weigh about 100 grams and have a custom octa-core Snapdragon SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, an OLED display, a 50MP main camera & a secondary 8MP telephoto camera.
Apparently, the glasses can record up to 100 minutes of video at one time & also include live translation which I’d be very interested to see in action.
Xiaomi also plans to sell these glasses at retail for about $400.
So the question is, would you buy these glasses & wear them… possibly even in public.

Intel’s 13th generation of processors classified as Raptor Lake will retain support for DDR4.
Intel originally wanted to support both DDR4 & 5 only on their 12th gen CPU line as sort of a crossover generation.
But now thanks to a list of AsRock’s motherboards it seems Intel’s 13th gen will still come with the hybrid DDR4 & 5 support.
Probably because the supply of DDR5 still hasn’t gotten to where it needs to be.
And ofc because DDR5 is still about 50-75% more expensive than DDR4 with small performance gains.
And personally I’d much rather have 64 gigs of DDR4 than 32 gigs of DDR5 for like the same price.

As Microsoft continues to drag their users through the dirt, I wonder if it would actually be possible for Linux to take over eventually.
Microsoft’s Windows has ofc had plenty of criticism lately because of their continued rollout of buggy updates.
Not to mention the speculation around added spyware, backdoors & general privacy concerns with Windows from the past few years.
So with the penguin-based Chrome OS & recently Steam OS gaining popularity at such a rapid pace would it be actually possible for Microsoft to lose their grip in maybe a decade or two?
This is just an interesting topic I briefly discussed with someone yesterday.
Linux does already control the server space & the mobile space through Android, but it has never quite become the norm on desktop.

AMD has leaked their upcoming Ryzen 7000 CPUs on their official website.
This leak was ofc totally unintentional & not just to gather up some hype for the upcoming CPUs.
So we didn’t get much info, but we did sort of get a confirmation which specific Ryzen 7000 series CPUs will be launching this fall.
The list revealed two Ryzen 9 CPUs the 7950X & the 7900X.
As well as the lower end Ryzen 7 7700X & the Ryzen 5 7600X.
These are also usually the most popular models with the Ryzen 9’s being the high-end chips for consumer workstations & the Ryzen 7’s & 5’s for your typical gamer.
And it’s also gonna be very interesting squaring them up against Intel’s upcoming CPUs, as this time Intel has more cores in total;
But AMD has more of them oriented towards performance.

Apple the $2.5 trillion company is planning to put more ads on the App Store.
Specifically, they want to put ads right in the App Store’s “Today tab” as well as on individual app pages.
Now obviously Apple’s exploring new ways to generate money on the App Store as it seems their margins are gonna go down because of various legislations being passed around the world.
But my question is do we REALLY need ads so badly on our app stores?
You know places where people go to find & download specific programs that they need for their particular use case.
I personally really hate it when I’m looking for some sort of a tool on an app store & I get bombarded with ads for random stupid games or some stupid subscription-based tools that I’m not gonna use anyways.

Proving once & for all that Android is just superior to iOS.

Also known as everyone’s favorite browser, to download other browsers.
At this point Internet explorer was really just such a steaming pile of s***.
It was slow, it was unsecure & it literally didn’t support some new features of modern browsers that enable modern web applications to actually work.
The replacement Microsoft is offering is ofc their Edge browser, which they’ve been developing for a few years now & is honestly not bad.
In fact it has been my main browser since like a year ago when I ran into a few issues with Chrome so there’s that.
So long Internet Explorer, it was about time.

Apparently this device would be focused towards Google Play games which is a market that’s already dominated by smartphones.
And it would also be expected to stream games from cloud services such as GeForce Now.
So my question is would anybody even buy this thing when you have extremely popular consoles like the Switch & the Steam Deck already available.

Microsoft is changing the game with their new AI-powered assistant for Office 365.
The Copilot will be running all around office 365 being able to generate summaries of meetings, various documents, create product descriptions, full presentations and much more like following this channel for all the tech news.
Withing Excel for example you’re literally gonna be able to ask the assistant to create reports & calculations instead of actually doing them yourself with various functions.
If you forget to make a presentation on a topic; the copilot will literally be able to generate a full Power Point presentation along with speaking points in just a few seconds.
And if you’re gonna be joining meetings late, there’s gonna be a personal summary of what has already ben discussed waiting for you.
So overall Microsoft seems to be leaving everyone else iin the dust with their new AI-features provided by OpenAI’s GPT-4.
