During the 80's Melbourne was considered are very safe place to live and a great city to raise children in due to the low crime rates. The suburb of Lower Plenty in particular was home to professionals and was a well off area. But at approx. 4:00 AM 22 August 1987 things would soon change
Whilst a family slept, a man masked in a black balaclava began to remove a pane of glass from a window downstairs and managed to get inside the house. He made his way up the stairs and in his hands was a knife and a gun.
He entered the parents room and woke them up, he told them to stay calm, and that he was only there because he wanted money and items from the house... He told them to comply and they rolled on their stomachs. He bound their hands and feet and gagged. Then he dragged them to the wardrobe and locked them inside
But this man had lied, he had not come for money or positions.
