Longtail boats in Thailand are used to ferry passengers and goods, especially in the metropolitan area and suburbs of Bangkok.
This video references a typical passenger Long Tail Canal Taxi Boat with a 4 cylinder Toyota engine as the power unit.
The engine is a Toyota Twin Cam 16 valve 4A-GE "Red Top" which produces 94kW (126hp) of power at 6,600 RPM.
This engine was used in the Toyota Corolla and Celica car models.

The Baby Bootlegger is an American wooden plank on frame built racing speedboat. It was designed by George Crouch for Caleb Bragg in early 1924 to compete in the Gold Cup.
Caleb Smith Bragg was an American racecar driver, speedboat racer, aviation pioneer, and automotive inventor. In speedboat racing, Caleb won three consecutive (APBA Challenge) Gold Cup races in Detroit from 1923-1925.
The Baby Bootlegger was built by Henry Nevins who was a master yacht builder and author on vessel construction in City Island, New York.
Bragg won the APBA Gold Cup in both 1924 and 1925. It was fitted with a 220-horsepower converted Hispano Suiza aircraft engine dating from the First World War.
The Baby Bootlegger is a V-bottom racer . It was one of the last non-hydro boats to win the Harmsworth Trophy and Gold Cups. After the stepped hydroplanes were introduced the displacement hulls could not compete and likewise, the stepped hydroplanes could not compete with the 3 point hydros that still race today.
The stepped hydro still exists in a developed form today – the offshore racers use a stepped V hull
The hull is constructed from 3mm Balsa Planking over CNC cut Plywood frames. The outer skin is Teak veneer which is sanded and finished with 2 pack High Gloss Varnish – See the end of the video clip for build photographs
The boat handles reasonably well until too much power is applied and the boat starts to fully plane. This causes bow steer and is almost impossible to control until the power is let off.
