A walk around the prehistoric landscape with stone circles, megalithic tombs and glacial erratics aplenty. Interesting place to visit with a nice wee interpretive centre and laid out trails.

I stopped to eat lunch today at a lay-by on the Victoria Rd just outside Newbuildings. Behind the lay-by was a nice wee viewing platform overlooking the Foyle.

Because I am wearing a Zeppelin T-shirt I thought I'd do a Zeppelin song...played on an old and kinda rare Kay Elfolk acoustic/electric guitar with a built-in speaker, the intonation is terrible but it's a nice guitar so that's ok...fluffed it a bit at the end 8D

A twilight visit to this famous tomb!
Thought to date back 5000 years, this astonishing portal tomb is one of the three biggest in Ireland. The dolmen has two capstones, one balancing on the other. The largest is about 3 metres long and around 1.5 metres thick and is resting on the other capstone and one remaining portal stone.
The monument has a traditional connection with the ancient legend of Diarmaid and Gráinne. It is believed to be one of their resting spots on their flight from Gráinne’s fiancé, the legendary hero Fionn MacCumhaill.
