Can you imagine thinking it's a good idea to tell kids they have to find a group of people to "spend a lot of time with" in order to be happy and successful, especially on the heels of a year of isolation and emphasis on "micro-aggressions," identity politics, and cancel-culture? Well I sure can't, but the tone-deaf Superintendent of a PA school district though it made sense, and he used it as the central message of his commencement speech to the South Middleton PA School District class of 2021! Ironically, his own inability to think for himself led him to have someone else write the speech for him, and that person in turn had to plagiarize a speech given by Amy Poehler back in 2011 at Harvard. Tragically, for the individuals involved, and our kids, this sort of mindless following and repetition of ideas someone else came up with, is the status quo in American education. The inability to think is not just a handicap, it's dangerous. People trained to look for groups with whom to affiliate, and to fear working alone, are easy targets for those who would use them to amass power, and commit atrocities against designated "out" groups. This sort of indoctrination is the hallmark of cults, and totalitarian ideologues. Get your own kids away from it as soon as you can.
