The monstera deliciosa plant is still alive 2 months after hurricane Ian.
It isn't thriving, the leaves are damaged, but overall the plant looks healthy.
I am looking forward to when it grows new leaves again.
Other common names include delicious monster, fruit salad plant, fruit salad tree, ceriman, monster fruit, monsterio delicio, monstereo, Mexican breadfruit, windowleaf, balazo and Penglai banana.[8] The names in Spanish (costilla de Adán), Portuguese (costela-de-adão), and French (plante gruyère) refer to the change of the leaves from entire to fenestrated, comparing it in the first two cases with the ribs of Adam and in the third with the hole-filled gruyère cheese. In Mexico, the plant is sometimes referred to as piñanona. In coastal regions of Sicily, especially Palermo, it is called zampa di leone (lion's paw).

I improve the soil in a row of fruit trees in my Florida zone 9b food forest by adding a massive amount of chop and drop bio mass. I use Mexican Sunflower, material from pruning our ornamental landscape, dried up palm fronds and banana plants.
The palm fronds are used as an alternative to cardboard. A Mexican Sunflower jungle that is intruding on two Mango trees is chopped and transaplanted into a row near a fence line. The new row of Mexican Sunflower will provide tons of bio material for future use.
Longevity Spinach and African Potato Mint are planted in front of the row as ground cover and a weed barrier. Blue Porter Weed is planted to attract pollinators. Veviter grass is planted as an additional source of chop and drop material.
This massive amount of bio mass will feed the soil. The soil will feed the fruit trees and the fruit trees will feed us.

It is loved around the world for its gorgeous glossy leaves and edible fruit. It is a Florida native. It is native to sub tropical and tropical coastal areas around the world.
Buy Cocoplum - https://amzn.to/43WX3nN
Watch the full video: https://youtu.be/tZxTQMUhaLo
Cocoplum (Chrysobalanus icaco) isn't picky about soil. Sandy, loamy, even alkaline soil are fine. It will adapt and flourish in almost any environment. It is a great choice for novice or experienced gardeners.
It isn't bothered by wind or salt water. It is well known for stabilizing coastal sand dunes.
I love it for the edible fruit that it makes. The type of fruit depends on the variety of Cocoplum. Some varieties make purple fruit. Some varieties make white fruit. Some varieties make both purple and white fruit. I have the variety that makes both purple and white fruit.
