The first beer I am reviewing is the Winter Ale, known as N'Ice Chouffe. This Belgian Strong Dark Ale comes in at a hefty 10% ABV with 25 IBUs. This poured a beautiful opaque mahogany color with a big khaki head. The nose was subtle, I got some generic spiciness and some dark fruit. This was medium bodied, and lighter than I had expected, which is good. A lot of winter warmers in the US are like molasses, which does not always work. As to flavors, there was a lot going on in here. I got brown bread, raisin, some light sweetness, thyme and some other spices my palate can't discern, as well as a slight alcohol burn at the end. This slushy style sour ale has pineapple, lime, strawberry, orange, lactose, and vanilla flavored glitter. This comes in at 6.2% ABV and poured a nice cloudy golden color with visible glitter and fruit particles, as well as a healthy amount of head. The nose was fruity, orange, pineapple and vanilla coming through. The body was medium/light, which surprised me as this was a fruited sour. The fruit flavors all came through, with orange, pineapple, lime and strawberry, although we did not really taste the vanilla. All things considered, this was a solid beer. Probably not something you would drink every day, but I don't think it was designed to be that.
