Welcome to another Devlog for They Come In Waves. A Zombie survival, FPS game that I am writing in Unity.
This week we discuss a lot, but my focus was on trying out a new mechanic to dismember zombies. I also worked on my schedule and set a date for the release of the first demo. We'll go through my experiments with an asset used for volumetric clouds and chat about the Unity situation as it affects asset store developers along with everyone else.

In this video we will be looking at how to create a camera follow script in Unity. I have been really inspired by the game Hades, and I wanted to create a camera follow script that would resemble that of Hades. We look at how you can go about setting your scene up to use a camera in this way, as well as creating a script that will be used to track a target object. In this case, the target object is the player.
Camera follow scripts are straight forward, you provide the script with a transform that you want to target, as well as the distance away from the target that you want the camera to be. You then compute the current distance from the transform to the camera and move the camera accordingly.

I had the sudden urge to make a missile in Unity, but to spice it up I thought it would be cool to make a PID controller. Also, it would be a pretty boring Unity tutorial if it was just about a missile moving toward a target now wouldn’t it? Even though that is exactly what it is.
Anyway, I did some research and found this really great post (https://forum.unity.com/threads/rigidbody-lookat-torque.146625/#post-1005645) on the Unity forums by Brian Stone, who does a really great job of explaining how PID controllers work, and even provides and awesome example project which makes use of a spaceship.
I adapted Brians code to work in 3 dimensions, and applied it to this missile that I modelled in blender, I think it works pretty well, a part from the random axis issues I’ve been having, but I’m sure I’ll be able to sort that out in the future.
